[PATCH]: Fix syscall return code when ptrace or audit is active
Attached is a simple patch to fix the return value from the 64-bit kernel when
you call with a bad system call number with tracing enabled (for either ptrace
or audit). What should happen is that the user process gets a -ENOSYS return
call from the syscall; what actually happens (only in the 64-bit kernel) is that
you get back the system call number. The 32-bit kernel does not suffer from

Wine 1.2 + Kernel 2.6.34.2 + nVidia 256.44 + WoW = Crash!
The above mentioned combination results in WoW/Wine crashing my computer completely. It freezes completely. No mouse, no keyboard. It just sits there. I can though login via SSH from another computer, and the load is then sitting at 14-15 (using top), which is a bit high. :)
The only way to get it back in normal shape, is a hard reboot. Click the powerbutton for 4 seconds, and hope for the best.

sandbox-rlimit and ptrace.
I was wondering if the following attack would be feasible once I'm able
to break into rlimit sandbox.
Because sandboxed process that handles unauthenticated session is
running as the 'sshd' user I was wondering if this could be used to jump
between processes using ptrace(2). For example if I find a bug in the
code executed before authentication I could use ptrace(2) to attach to

WoW: Wrath of the Lich King issue
I'm currently running Ubuntu 8.10 and Wine 1.15. WoW Installs fine, once I launch it the fun starts :)
When I launch the game, it runs the intro video (normal for first launch after an install): after the video runs its course, or I skip it, it should prompt me to accept some EULA. Instead it crashes and exits with:

I want to be able to minimise WoW
OS: Arch Linux (64-bit) (fully updated)
GFX Card: Geforce 8800GT (driver version irrelevant - had problem for a year)
WM: Openbox
Problem: Whenever I minimise WoW, the fps drops to sub-10. I can solve this by minimising and maximising the window again, but if I wait too long after minimising, it doesn't always work. Also, if I minimise it by accident too many times, it also doesn't work.

Wine crashes on WoW install
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with WINE 1.2. I had to replace my hard drive, so this is a fresh install of both Ubuntu and WINE. I can accept the user agreements and open the installer, but when I get to the world.MPQ (i think thats the file) file, WINE crashes and tells me there was something wrong and the install hangs at 24%.
I'm fairly new to Ubuntu AND WINE so I don't know where to

WoW Worked Once, Now it Don't I'm Stumped
Before we start, I am new to Linux, so please be gentle. I only got as far as I did due to google and this website.
I installed World of Warcraft using Wine. After 2 days of troubleshooting and fixing driver issues, I was able to log in last night and the game ran flawlessly. I logged out, installed all of my normal addons logged back in and they all worked. I played for about an hour and

fixme"wininet:InternetSetOptionW Err - WoW Download/Install
I am trying to download/install WoW on my openSUSE 11.1 system, running wine 1.1.13.
I download the PC Game Client from WoW website, which when launched on windows, downloads the game installer, and then runs the installer.
When i try to launch it, I get the following error from the WoW client itself:

WoW/RealID
Just trying to determine if anyone else using Wine + WoW + RealID friends is
experiencing the same problem, so I can determine if it's a
router/internet/wow/linux(wine) issue.
All my realID friends show location unknown (regular toon friends properly
show the location).
Also, battle.net looses connection with realid and it takes a wow restart to
resolve.
Any input would be great.

I've tried various things to make it work, but it just doesn't seem to.
Now, I did install from LiveCD, will install full fc11 tomorrow and try again,

to see if anyone else has had this and found the fix:

Wine 1.2-rc?, nVidia, and WoW 3.3.5 Problems
Forwarding to list.
One of my concerns is that we don't direct users to scan the forum entries before they post.
This is just one example of 'me too' messages in a series.
And the maddening thing is that folks like Jim below, don't have the problem.
Several 'fixes' have been posted to work around what originally appears to be brokenness in Wine, starting about 1.1.44,

WoW Performance - Degrades over Time
Hi All,
I've posted for some suggestions in the WoW forums, but it's been suggested that I post here as well, as I'm more likely to get someone who has a clue :)
PROBLEM
======
After an extended play time in one area (~ 1 hour), or rapid travel between areas, the performance degrades substantially. It goes from 60+ FPS to about 5FPS and doesn't recover until I restart the game.

WoW crashes after clicking play from launcher
I installed World of Warcraft and I am able to bring up the Launcher screen. I click play, the launcher disappears as it should but then the login screen never comes up. The Wine window has to force the process to stop in order to exit Wine.
I'm Using Ubuntu 10.10 with an ATI graphics card.
Any ideas?
