Weird problem with OpenGl based games (Quake 3 engine)

Problem is like this - whatever I try to play OpenGL based game that uses Quake 3 engine I got weird mouse "jumps". Let's take Soldier of Fortune 2 Demo as it can be downloaded for free. When in jungle I try to look left or right - mouse jumps slightly (the

Quake II - a modal problem?
I am running FC2 on a Dell 600SC, latest wine version. FYI:Quake II will run on machines with only 4 MB video cards and no OpenGL. It runs fine under Windoze. Under Wine it runs the "launching demo" well but then I have no keyboard or mouse control. I must force the power off to regain control. On Windoze one would hit the escape key at this point and a menu screen appears with

Samba Printing api_rpcTNP: \spoolss: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX failed
Thats really annoying because the printing with samba is not possible, just printing directly to cups is possible. The clients are working with UTF-8, the server is working with UTF-8, don't know why character conversion should be a problem here. Locales and filenames
I have a file which contains non-ASCII characters (umlauts, accented characters, etc.) both in its filename as well as its content. The only way I have been able to see these characters is inside vim, where they are displayed correctly no matter what I have LANG set to. My default LANG is en_US.utf8, but I have tried de_DE.utf8, de_DE.iso88591, and various others. In the output of a

installing package from source with Linux
Dear list, this may not be related to R but rather to my OS, but I do not understand the issue of compiling R packages deeply enough to figure out the exact cause of the problem. I am trying to install a R package from source as it is not yet available under Cran (Rssa, downloaded here: https://github.com/asl/rssa). Running sudo R CMD INSTALL asl-rssa-6f458e4.tar.gz from the console

Problem with encoding (Umlaut: ü, ä...)
Hi there from Germany, I just installed and set up ferret and act_as_ferret for rails. All of them at the most recent version. The development environment is running fine with Mac OS X. But I got problems with the productive environment (debian). In the (mysql-)database are few records stored, containig german umlauts (? for example). Running a query for "k?ln" returns the correct
