favicon.ico (shortcut icon) & Internet Explorer 8 & rails
For all the poor programmers out there who have been scratching their heads ... If you do something like <link href=''/images/UltraDedup-icon-003---16x16.ico'' rel=''shortcut icon'' type=''image/x-icon'' /> and place it immediately after the in the <head> section of a webpage then you may experience the following bizarre behavior:

How Functional is Wine's IE supposed to be?
I haven't said much about this, but Wine's Internet Explorer has never really worked as web browser. I understand that the main purpose of Wine's Internet Explorer isn't to be a web browser, but to make Windows programs that require MS IE work. That said, one of the Wine 1.4 release criteria is "Builtin iexplore, Gecko". So I figured I should ask, "How functional

Internet Explorer
Hi! We are working in a migration of workstations (with M$) to Linux, we are around 12000 pc?s, with a lot OF aplications designed to WinNT, some of these are web aplications with Java and activeX from Microsoft, we need to run it in Linux, and we tried to use Wine to do it. The question....How to install IE(4, 5 or 6) in a system without Windows partition, and...the support for java and activeX?

Explorer - DirectX and ActiveX
Hello! I'll be running a web project in a future that has a "3d city" built in. Unfortunately the makers of this 3dcity were enough braindamaged to make it as activeX component, so it only works for IE users. The first rational step was to install explorer with ies4linux script and it works briliantly (IE6)! The activeX component does install and start, however it is saying there

Set working directory by dragging text file onto R shortcut? [WinXP, unfortunately]
Hi R-helpers, I must use WinXP at work, and I'm missing a particular feature that's available in R on my Mac at home... In WinXP I would like to launch R by dragging and releasing a text file on top of the R shortcut on my desktop. Then, I would like the working directory to be automatically set to the location of that text file. That's what works in MacOS, but I can't figure

is it possible to install internet explorer in wine
Hello all, I am working on a linux box, and I am going to write a program , use a cross compiler that I found and compile it for windows... I then plan to run it in wine, for initial testing ( I don't have a windows box ). I'd like to use the activeX browser control in the program, as opposed to re inventing the wheel in an unfamiliar environment ( why cant we all just use unix? )

Fix for win32-shortcut
Hi all, I''ve narrowed down one more problem for cygwin/mingw. For win32-shortcut, it appears that you need to add "-luuid" to $LIBS. Once Takaaki tried that, it worked. How does this look for the extconf.rb for win32-shortcut? # extconf.rb require "mkmf" require "ftools" if RUBY_PLATFORM =~ /cygwin|mingw/i CONFIG["CC"] = "g++"

Problem with shortcut
Ive made a shortcut to an EXE which relies on another EXE (both exe's are in the same folder). If the shortcut is placed on the desktop, it will not work and report something about EXE not found. If i run the shortcut from within the directory which contains both EXE's, it will work. How do i get the shortcut to work? I think it had something to do with the equivalent of window's

Help creating a shortcut in wine
Can anyone help me with how to create a windows shortcut in wine? I want to create windows shortcuts on a Linux box that windows clients can then access. I'm trying to use wine to allow me to create the shortcut on the Linux box. I'm using the wine-0.9.31 version of wine on Fedora Core 5. I've tried two approaches, both fail. I've tried using an autohotkey script. This script runs
