x axis problems
I have been searching for the R manual, unable to solve my problem. Questions 1) How can I put the x axis at the top of the plot? 2) I am plotting data from a CTD. I want to add series sal, obs and fluo at the same plot by using points(sal, deepth) ets. The data have different values so I want to use multiple x axis (4) with different scaling. How can I do that?

How to change time zones?
Say you have a POSIX object that is in UTC. How do you change the values to another timezone? If I do this: times <- strptime(times, "%H:%M:%S") times1 <- as.POSIXct(times, tz="UTC") times2 <- as.POSIXct(times, tz="CDT6CST") times1 id UTC, but times2 is still UTC, not CTD. Why? Is the only was to change time zones to add seconds to POSIX objects?

Vpopmail Dynamic Authentication Module
Hello, We currently use qmail with vpopmail for e-mail and are looking to switch from courier-imap to dovecot for IMAP on our RedHat EL 5 systems. Our goal is to use the dovecot RPM supplied by RH (v1.0.7) if at all possible. We can do this if we are able to dynamically load the vpopmail auth module. The wiki (http://wiki.dovecot.org/CompilingSource) notes that this should be possible:

Differencing data by groups
Colleagues, I am analyzing data collected during oceanographic cruises. We have conducted many cruises over the last decade. On each cruise we visit ~50 stations. At each station (termed EventNum)we lower an instrument that measures depth, temperature, salinity and oxygen every few seconds as it is lowered through the water. Data from all EventNums on all cruises are stacked, generating a data

CTDB+GFS2+CMAN. clean_start="0" or clean_start="1"?
Hi everybody, I have tested CTDB+GFS2+CMAN under Debian. It works good but I do not understand some points. It is possible to run the CTDB defining it under services section in cluster.conf but running it on the second node shuts down the process at the first one. My CTDB configuration implies 2 active-active nodes. Does CTDB care if the node starts with clean_start="0" or

FW: logistic regression
Sorry. Let me try again then. I am trying to find "significant" predictors" from a list of about 44 independent variables. So I started with all 44 variables and ran drop1(sep22lr, test="Chisq")... and then dropped the highest p value from the run. Then I reran the drop1. Oceanographic lattice plots?
R 1.8.0 on Windows XP Professional. A huge THANK YOU to the R Team for this marvelous software. I am making lattice plots of oceanographic data. The usual layout does not conform to plotting conventions that marine scientists use when depth is the independent variable. Under those conventions, plots are made with the origin at the upper left, depth on the vertical axis (increasing as it

When is the next WWN?
Hi. I've been waiting to hear more about current wine news other than from the most recent update. I always enjoyed reading the WWN talking about strategies to build a project to get Direct X 9 or 10 working and updates on the next wine meeting. Google summer of code (which is coming up soon). So I'm just curious, when is the next one coming out? Thanks, Ron

[RFC] pv-scsi driver (scsiback/scsifront)
Hi all. We developped a pv-scsi driver that we refered Fujita-san''s scsi-driver and blkback. (see, http://www.xensource.com/files/xensummit_4/Xen_Summit_8_Matsumoto.pdf) The pv-scsi driver''s feature is as follow: * Guest has dedicated SCSI-HBAs of Dom0. * Guest can send scsi_cdb to the HBAs. * Guest recognises the HBAs from hostno of xenstore. Currentlly, We are

Links 2003 & Grand Prix 4
Grand Prix 4 doesn't install completely, i.e. the installation terminates just at the end of the process which might be due to the msi installer. Links 2003 installs, but aborts in the early stages of boot which might be due to copy protection, e.g. SafeDisc.

Centralized DB of Windows Applications
Today, WINE has a distributed database of applications owned by the users of WINE. Practically, this solution is probably the only legal way to proceed unless the WINE project literally funds the purchase of every application for Windows. * Maybe, an owner of a specific program can loan the masters of their Windows programs to the WINE project with the guarantee that they'll be returned within

Error Attaching Seventh VirtIO-SCSI Device to Guest
I have run into a problem attempting to attach the seventh virtio-scsi device to a RHEL 6.4 Guest from a RHEL 6.4 host running libvirt version 0.10.2-18. I have a guest that is running RHEL6.4 where I can attach disks sda(boot), sdb, sdc, sdd, sde and sdf but when I try to attach sdg the virsh attach-disk command fails with the error: error: Failed to attach disk error: internal error Unable to

Why not pulseaudio?
Pulseaudio works great in wine using the modified wine from the Neill Aldur ppa. Tried everything else (padsp, pasuspender, blah) and nothing would work reliably. Some crashes when another application outputs sound, sometimes the sound does not work at all, sometimes it is awfully slow or with latency varying while recording, leading to unpredictable offsets in recorded files. Using pulseaudio

Any rhyme or reason to disk dev names?
Hello, I am curious to know if there is an easy way to guess or identify the device names of disks. Previously the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 system made sense to me... I had a SATA controller card with 8 ports, and they showed up with the numbers 1-8 in the "t" position of the device name. But I just built a new system with two LSI SAS HBAs in it, and my device names are along the lines of:
