Enabling 16bit DOS on MAC?
I've been reading around, so I found this solution (on another topic here) for enabling DOS support on Macs with wine, something having to do with "patching the linker". Can anybody either explain this in simple terms, or point me towards a guide for doing this?

error installing wine 1.2
I downloaded wine 1.2 because it's the latest stable version. when I open the folder and click on configure, terminal opens up, and after hundreds of rows of information zipping by, it stops with this at the bottom... checking whether 16-bit code can be built correctly... no configure: error: Xcode 3.x cannot build 16-bit code correctly. Use --disable-win16 if you don't need 16-bit

MacPorts version can't run 16-bit programs
Whenever I try to run a 16-bit application with the version of Wine that built out of MacPorts, I get a crash similar to this one: Code: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xffffffff at address 0x1017:0x0000093e (thread 0026), starting debugger... couldn't load main module (2) Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code (1017:0000093e).

RMagick Installation woes
Hi, I need to install Rmagick to get re-sizing working with Paperclip. My dev machine is on Mac OSX Leopard and the server is on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.1 I dint have Macports or wget at first. I was following this article - http://onrails.org/articles/2007/11/03/installing-rmagick-on-leopard-without-macports-or-fink. Ive done this before too. But some dependency always failed. I want to start with a

Wine on non-Unix platforms
Greetings everyone. Let me start by stating that I appreciate the enormous undertaking that Wine has been, and I am not suggesting that the ideas I will ask about in this post would be easy (or even possible) to implement, so there's no need to flame the n00b. As I understand it, Wine is an implementation of the Windows API for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems (Mac OS X, FreeBSD,

Is DOSBox replacing native DOS support in Wine?
I haven't followed Wine in quite a while, other than to do an occasional update (but hopefully this will change). I noticed DOSBox support was added in January 2011. My understanding is that when Wine can't even attempt to run DOS programs itself (MAC OSX, 64bit OSes, etc) that it will attempt to run using DOSBox. Is this correct? Is the plan to replace native Wine DOS support across the

gdi32.dll error
Hello, I encounter the same problem on MacOSX 10.5.6, either using X11 supplied with Leopard, or X11 2.3.3.2 (XQuartz) and Xcode 3.1.2. It appears using Darwine 1.1.21 from Kronenberg, Darwine 1.1.7 from thisismyinter.net, or the lastest wine-1.1.21, compiled from source. The only way to use wine is to installed wine stable from MacPorts or the Kronenberg's 1.1.21. Hardly, it

Exactly - I tried to make aaf a bit more clever by letting it assume :limit

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc and -march
Hi, I apologize if I am not asking on the right mailing list. I am using the llvm-gcc4.2 from MacPorts. https://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/lang/llvm-gcc42/Portfile llvm-gcc does not seem to accept the -march flag. This is the error, I got: cc1: error: unrecognized command line option "-march" The port developer asked me to find out if this is a known issue. -- Nichols

I installed WINE today through Macports, I have X11. X11 SDK and Xcode installed. I am trying to get an old game called Axis and allies 1998 which I've got to work in Ubuntu before just fine working on this mac. Rsync 3.0.0pre8 and Mac OS X
Hi, I tried Rsync 3.0.0pre8 on my mac running os X 10.5. I was very pleased about the --iconv feature, as i have to sync some LINUX-machines and I had really trouble with some filenames. But I found one strange thing in connection with the mac. First of all, the translation between the LINUX ISO-8859-15 and the mac ut-8 works (nearly) perfect. As I live in Germany, we have often filenames

Anyone out there running Dragon Age:Origins on SNOW LEOPARD?
Im currently working at it, and got as far as being able to resume a saved game, but only for a few seconds before it crashes. You can see my full progress in the AppDB. Since, despite many helpful posts, there doesn't seem to be anyone actually running it on SLeo over there, I was just wondering if ANYONE has been successful in that task, or if I'm the only lonely wanderer in the dark...

mongrel_cluster on OS X 10.5 Leopard
So, Leopard server has been great, most everything I need is here. Thanks to a nice example here: http://www.cyberarmy.net/library/article/1722/ I was even able to sort out using Mongrel with Apache 2. All works out of the box, except mongrel_cluster. The gem just won''t install. I could really use some guidance here. I did try the darwinports mongrel_cluster install from here:

Re: Installing NWN on MacOS 10.5
Thanks for the advice. It took me a while to find the time to take it. I upgraded Xcode to the most recent, installed macports and portius. I then installed WINE. (Not necessarily in that order, but it is the best one.) [Wink] I copied a good Windows folder containing the whole NWN game and it seems to work now. (It seems that while the game has been made to work, I can find no reference to the

DarWine & OpenGL
Hi, For the past 3 months I have been trying to get wine working well, but have hit several obstacles. I am on a Mac 10.5.7, using X11 2.3.3.2 from Xquartz, and using Kroneberg's Darwine builds. The issues: I can't seem to get OpenGL working or DirectX. I sometimes have problems where I launch an exe, and the program runs as if it cannot "see" any other files in the same folder.

Wine Installation issues on Snow Leopard
Firstly, hello and thank you for attempting to come to my rescue, I am in need of your assistance. With that said please let me share this problem in hopes of a possible solution. Recently, I installed and configured MacPorts successfully. However I receive a warning from my terminal when I try and install wine using MacPorts. I command my terminal as follows - sudo port install wine-devel.

Strange crashing behavior
Hi, I'm trying to run a game called Star Sonata (http://www.starsonata.com/download.html) on my iMac (Mac OS 10.5.8) using Wine 1.2-rc7. If I run the installer first, I can choose to launch the game directly and it runs without crashing (at least, without crashing systematically). However, if I quit and relaunch the game, it crashes as soon as I get to the log-in screen. Below I have

Any details I should know before trying to build on OS X Snow Leopard (Darwin 10) ?
Hi, One of my Macs is kept at 10.6.8 (with Xcode 3.2.6) because it's a system I still wish to support. However, I'd like to move to clang on it, if possible. I prefer to either install a precompiled binary distribution (if it exists) or compile it on my own, but for the moment I'd prefer to avoid installing it through macports. Looking at the LLVM releases downloads page, I see
