Kubuntu 10.10 hangs up, while using DVDFab with wine 1.2/1.3
Hello,
first of all, let me say sorry, for my ugly english !
In the past, I used DVDFab 7/8 with wine 1.2 on Kubuntu 10.04. Everything worked fine, without any special configuration. I used the Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray Function.
Now, i did a new installation of Kubuntu 10.10, and DVDFab looks like this:
DVDFAB 7.0.9.3

Problems with wine & Crossover Pro after upgrading to Kubunt
I have not found any other comments on any of the usual forums, so it may be just a problem with my system.
The newer, "QT" versions of DVDFAB no longer work with either wine or cxoffice on my kubuntu system after upgradinging to Kubuntu 11.04 .
The pre- QT versions of DVDFAB still work and if I install the DVDFAB-QT versions on a kubuntu/ubuntu 10.10 system running in a Virtualbox,

Unusable Font after upgrading to wine 1.4 (Ubuntu 12.04)
Hello,
today I upgraded my system from Kubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 and installed wine 1.4.
Now, most my Windows apps (e.g. the "configure wine" program) have ugly, almost unreadable fonts
TTF-Fonts are installed and working properly when explicitly chosen, but all the "standard" fonts (like for menus, window titles and so on) are bold, grainy and not anti aliased.
I don't know

works on live Knoppix, but not on Ubuntu / Kubuntu installs
I have an industrial app I'm trying to get working on wine.
It runs ok using with the Knoppix 6.4.4 live cd [using 1.0.1.] Does not work on Kubuntu or Ubuntu, with either wine 1.2 or after I downgraded to wine version to 1.0.1.
1) Any idea why?
2) Is there an "installed" distro that's very similar to Knoppix 6.4.4. ?
Thanks.

MS Office in Wine: Hebrew backwards
I must install MS Office in Wine on Ubuntu Linux. It installs fine,
but the Hebrew is backwards. Googling the problem led me to this
video, which illustrates the problem:

Does anyone know how to fix this? I am on a full UTF-8 Hebrew locale,
if that is relevant. I installed MS Office 2003 in English on Kubuntu
8.04. Thanks in advance.

moving from Windows to Linux - need help
hi
I've used R for many years on windows machines, but
have now acquired an Asus eee 1000 linux machine.
In order to get the best out of the machine, I used the
'pimpmyeee.sh' script, to get the full KDE desktop.
The version of Linux is Xandros, which I believe is
a close relative of Debian, but sadly I have only a
nodding acquaintance with Linux at present.
Naturally I want to

wine freezes entire System
hi there,
I suppose, it's not an actual WINE problem, but I hope, you can at least tell me, where to get help.
I'm running "Lineage 2" with WINE 1.3.10 on Kubuntu 10.10 with proprietary ATI graphics-driver.
after a (seemingly) random period of time, the entire system freezes. the only thing possible is moving the mouse-cursor, which doesn't change it's style anymore,

If installing an application, I get errors during the process and the installation is aborted. If just running certain executables, the Wine Loader shows up in the task bar but the disappears after a few seconds without the application running.
I was able to install Call

Install driver for USB programming cable
I have successfully installed an XP application in Kubuntu 10.04 to be used to program a new hand-held radio, thanks to WINE and Winetricks.
My system will not, however, recognize the usb programming cable and attached radio when I plug them in.
I have an XP driver for the cable... the question is, where do I install it so that the software can use it and I can see the radio?? Does it go in

Does Access 2003 work on Wine?
Hi All,
I am trying to convert a customer over to Linux workstation,
instead of upgrading to Windows 7.
One last program to go. I can not get Access 2003 to work
with CentOS 5.4's Wine 1.0.1. I am set to upgrade his test
workstation to Fedora 12 and the latest Wine in a month
or so. (Access 2003 crashed when you try to open a database.)
Does anyone know if Access 2003 works in the latest

Building A Project Against LLVM
I decided to start playing around with building my own programming language
recently, and to use LLVM to handle the assembly-level details. I'm on
Kubuntu 18.04, and I started out using LLVM 6.0 from Kubuntu's packages. I
put together code for dealing with my language, then went over the
Kaleidoscope tutorials (which have been extremely helpful btw!). I was
able to successfully get my
