Wine 1.2-rc?, nVidia, and WoW 3.3.5 Problems
Forwarding to list. One of my concerns is that we don't direct users to scan the forum entries before they post. This is just one example of 'me too' messages in a series. And the maddening thing is that folks like Jim below, don't have the problem. Several 'fixes' have been posted to work around what originally appears to be brokenness in Wine, starting about 1.1.44,

Question regarding dependencies for Wine 1.1.1
Hi, I am new to Wine and somewhat to Linux. I am running DreamLinux (DL) which to the best of my knowledge is based on Debian. Currently I have Wine 1.0.0 installed with no Windows application installed on it yet. I would like to install M$ Office 2007 and reading the news on the WineHQ homepage it said that Wine 1.1.1 was released with fixes to M$ Office 2007, so I figured I should upgrade

Install latest R version from apt on Lenny
well, I had the site and page and I had added the relevant backport but it didn't work and i keep installing R 2.7 . Don't know why; i probably missed something. #### May be you should add in your mail the file : /etc/apt/sources.list (I suppose there might be a typo, as IT addresses are long and booring, and AFAIK, correcting a typo one made is **very** difficult). FYI binary installs

Re : Install latest R version from apt on Lenny
OK, thanks both. I'll try that. I suspect (very strongly) that it comes from the fact that I did not replace the cran mirror line by an actulal cran mirror URLs... I will give a look at all my backports this weekend and do a little cleaning too! thanks,   David Biau.   ################################# From: Johannes Ranke <jranke@uni-bremen.de> To: r-sig-debian@r-project.org

XML issue
Debian Lenny, latest Wine. I just installed a program that my WOW guild is raving about. Had to install .NET 2 to get it to run. Only problem so far is that I can't open a saved profile. It saves in XML format. That part seems ok, but I can't open it again. The process hangs on the first of three steps, locks up, and I have to force quit the app. I can open and read the file with a web

Install ziped program
Debian Lenny, Wine 1.1.27 (1.1.28 won't install) Can Wine install a program that comes as a zip file? As in: extract, install, and make Wine aware of it? I'm only askiing because I can't do it and was wondering if I'm missing a tool. Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Done The following packages have been kept back: r-base-core r-cran-boot r-cran-cluster

Speed/latency issues for development in a Wine environment
I am an experienced Linux developer but a Wine newbie. Recently I have been exploring the possibility of using CMake-2.8.1 and MinGW-4.5.0 in a Wine-1.1.42 environment (the backported Debian Lenny packages from WineHQ) to check that CMake-based build systems I use for various software projects work properly for that Windows platform. I am collecting notes for a wiki entry I am planning to write

Taking screenshop
Debian Lenny, very good Nvidia card, latest Wine. Situation I play WOW. I have had the need to occasionally take a screenshot. Using the 'PrtScn' key locks the game up for a couple of minutes, makes the cursor disappear, and shows my top and bottom desktop bars. Keyboard still works so I can press 'enter' to save the shot (to the Linux desktop). Eventually things go back to

Updating to a Development Version breaks 'wine-dev'
Hi, I am relatively new to Linux but know what I'm doing. I have installed Ubuntu and WinE (through synaptic package manager so it took the latest stable version, 1.0.1) Warcraft III worked perfectly in this version. But GGClient (also known as Garena, a program used to play low-latency games with others on the internet through a VPN) does not work in this version of WinE. So I looked it up,

adding winehq debian repository to apt-get
I added the winehq debian repository to apt-get | synaptic (I am running mepis 3.3) and would like to install those rather than the debian official unstable builds but since the winehq repository is also marked as part of 'unstable' distro I can't find a way to distinguish the wine / winelib provided by winehq from the official ones (which would need the many winelib-* packages)

New Ubuntu user, read FAQ, need help testing Galactic Civili
1) I read the FAQ. It say use wine 1.4. Synaptic says 1.3 is the latest available. Is this a problem? I have the PPA loaded into synaptic. 2) Database says Galactic Civilizations (2004 game from Stardock) works, but doesn't for me. Of course the last test is about 5 years old. I can get it to install and I can get the program to start running, but after configuring the galaxy things crash. I
