I managed to install IE7 using wine 1.1.26. Also installed adobe flash player. All these seeems to be working. Shockwave seems to be not working, but that's no important for me. However my greatest motivation for installing IE7 is to be able to run/view java applet. Test using java installation web site seems to say that the jre runtime was installed. Can't get JRE to install so that FireFox sees it
Hot on the heels of the success of getting sound to work with FireFox, I am on to getting Java applets to run. When I go to a page with a Java applet, I get the little Rubik's cube- like icon that says I can click to download. So I do, but FireFox says it can't find it, so I have to install manually. I click on Manual install and I'm taken to a page that allows me to download the RPM

java with internet explorer under wine
Hi, my bank requires a java certifiate that won't run under linux (I know that most of the java applets are platform independent, but this one is not). I've managed to get java running under Firefox with wine, but it turns out that their java won't run properly under Firefox neither. (This was affirmed by a windows user friend as well.) So my only remaining option is IE with wine.

Trouble with HTML search engine
There have been a number of posts to this list by people having trouble with the HTML search engine. Often these troubles are caused by incorrect setups (user hasn't installed Java properly, or Java is disabled, or Javascript is disabled). Sometimes the trouble persists even when Java is installed properly. I have written an alternative HTML search engine, which is based on Javascript rather

Fedora 10, R and yes...help.start()...deja vu all over again...
Hi all, I installed F10 Final today. This was a clean install, not an upgrade from F9. Kudos the the Fedora team as the level of maturity noted in the install process, including using encrypted partitions, keeps getting better with each release. I'd still like to see easier options in the GUI with respect to selecting entire groups of applications, rather than having to go through individual

Vbscripts do not run on Linux, though some bright spark has written a clone language that looks and feels like VBScript.

Java RE
Hello. Package Manager reports (with a green checkmark) that I have java-1.6.0 installed on my machine (running Cent 5.3), but it seems to not be running. I used http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml and got "Something is wrong. Java is not working." Perhaps I'm confused on which program I need to use java-coded apps.
