TomTom Home
Hi, I'm using wine to allow me to manage my TomTom SatNav using their 'HOME' application. On the whole it works well. The exception to this is installing updates/enhancements. To install items 'HOME' uses two files. The first is a .cab file which contains the update. The second file is a .toc file that contains information about the .cab file. This is where I have my

Can WINE help me using Dell Axim from Puppy Linux 511?
Since I'm new to this forum I probably I'm doing something wrong, I'm sorry if this's the case! I don't have a windows base system, solely Puppy Linux. I do have an Axim, though; can't do hardly anything useful with it since starting using just Linux. Went through many pages about WINE but failed to locate any useful info. That's the reason for posting my issue here.

TomTom Home under Wine?
Hello, is there a way to get my TomTom Home program connect to my TomTom GPS device? Under windows it's just an usb harddisk, and TomTom Home finds it via it's contents (I think). But under wine it doesn't seem to see it... Any hints? Or should I rather go for a virtual machine? Thanks in advance!

genetics: backward haplotype transmission association algorithm
Dear friends - a couple of papers in PNAS (lastly:framework for making better predictions by directly estimating variables' predictivity, Lo et al PNAS 2016; 113:14277-14282) have focused interest on mapping complex traits to multiple loci spread all over the genome. I have been around on the relevant taskview(s) I hope but fail to see that the backward haplotype transmission association

cross validation and parameter determination
Hi all, In Tibshirani's PNAS paper about nearest shrunken centroid analysis of microarrays (PNAS vol 99:6567), they used cross validation to choose the amount of shrinkage used in the model, and then test the performance of the model with the cross-validated shrinkage in separate independent testing set. If I don't have the luxury of having independent testing set, can I just use the

PAMR package question: How to plot Estimated probabilities for the training data and test data
Hi, I have tried some time trying to figure out how to use pamr to plot multiclass Estimated probabilities for the training data and test data? Specifically, how to recreate the PAMR publication on PNAS with Tibshrani et al. The publication is as attached. The plot I want to do is Figure 5. I have downloaded the pamr package and the function which gives similar plot is pamr.plotcvprob

FW: FDR analyses: minimum number of features
Dear Dr. Graves Many thanks for your response. FDRs and their associated q values do differ from Type I error rates and P values (See Storey and Tibshirani PNAS 2003;100:9440-5). It is an approach that is rapidly gaining popularity in the analysis of genomic data where we have massive numbers of covariates measured on a comparatively modest number of subjects. To my mind it is a real advance

noob question - program won't run
hi, sorry for the potentially stupid question. I'm a little stuck. when trying to run the stupid update manager i need for my satnav, which - obviously - is windows only, nothing happens. install worked, the icon's on my desktop, it has been made executable, but after a bit of harddrive action nothing happens. terminal says: Code: mzwo at mzwo-laptop:~$ env

R: Richiesta informazioni
Dear Andrea. Your request seems vague. And also: be careful, even if some of the people reading the list understand italian you are expected to post your requests in english. In short: read the FAQ and at least "An introduction to R". But you seem to be lucky, on the CRAN you will find a document by Vito Ricci, in italian, about time series analysis:

Wrong path to app.exe
Hi, Yesterday (one day after its release) I installed WINE 1.0 via openSuSE 10.3 YAST - from repository. I also installed WINE-DOORS 0.1.2. (first I unistalled and deleted earlier test installations and .wine folder) Then I installed IE6 via the WINE-DOORS list. This also installed a lot of other windows stuff. This is often advised to support other apps. Very nice! IE6 was then tested. It

PRI messages while running
I have an Asterisk system running on T1 PRI trunks using a TE405P. It seems to be running ok, but one thing puzzles me. Every so often I get a raft of messages like this: -- B-channel 0/1 successfully restarted on span 1 -- B-channel 0/2 successfully restarted on span 1 ....... -- B-channel 0/22 successfully restarted on span 1 -- B-channel 0/23 successfully restarted on span 1 I could

New version of package ff
Dear R community, ff Version 2.1.1 is available on CRAN. It now supports large data.frames, csv import/export, packed atomic datatypes and bit filtering from package 'bit' on which it depends from now. Some performance results in seconds from test data with 78 mio rows and 7 columns on a 3 GB notebook: sequential reading 1 mio rows: csv = 32.7 ffdf = 1.3 sequential writing 1 mio

FDR analyses: minimum number of features
Dear List, We are planning a genotyping study to be analyzed using false discovery rates (FDRs) (See Storey and Tibshirani PNAS 2003; 100:9440-5). I am interested in learning if there is any consensus as to how many features (ie. how many P values) need to be studied before reasonably reliable FDRs can be derived. Does anyone know of a citation where this is discussed? Bill Dupont William D.
