Re: iptool (ink reset canon question)
The printer's firmware reconizes electronic signatures of cartridges, nothing you can do (short of flashing you printers bios, which will render it a door stop) is going to get that cartridge to recognize as full. [Embarassed] :P [Twisted Evil]

Canon PIXMA mg5420 or HP Photo Smart 7520
In need of a new printer, having done a bit or research, and considering
either the Canon PIXMA mg5420 or the HP Photo Smart 7520.
There are Linux drivers for the Photosmart which are supposed to handle
both the printer and the scanner. But in my research I haven't found
(yet) anyone who's gotten the scanner to work with Linux on the
Photosmart, let alone the sheet feeder for it.

my last two laser printers have been Brother black&white all-in-ones
("MFC"). *VERY* cheap per page printing costs, even if you use Brother
brand toner

how do I use only black ink?
I have an HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one.
As I haven't had any need for color lately,
when I last replaced ink, I only replaced the black cartridge.
It didn't work, even when printing grayscale-only images,
even when telling print-set-up grayscale-only.
Is there a way to tell my printer to use only the black ink cartridge.
My test image is a handmade postscript file
that only use setgray

Highway robbery. More so the low end printers that vendors love to toss
in for free. They cost more in ink than they are worth. We need to lobby
the govt to regulate prices on ink ;)

Cups Ink Levels
Hey all,
In this week's Open Source Highlights I read:
"Check ink level: If you have an Epson, Canon, HP, or Sony printer, you
can see its ink level with a simple application. Look for the "ink"
package in your distribution repositories."
I checked my package manager but I didn't find any "ink" package. Does
such a package exist for Centos? Is so, what

Printer settings don't stick
Experienced programmer, Samba noob, CUPS noob; trying to use Ubuntu
6.06 Server as a print server for Windows XP clients on a home LAN.
Worked through the Howto and got point-and-print to work for my Canon
iP1200 (raw CUPS queue, and I used the Windows XP Add Printer Wizard
to upload the driver to the print$ share).
However, I can't persuade the printer driver to change the ink
cartridge mode

[PATCH] gm107: separate out sched decoding from regular ops
Unfortunately there's no sure-fire way to distinguish a sched "op" from
regular ones. They happen purely based on position. So for disassembly,
use the byte position in the file to determine whether the current op
should be decoded as sched or as regular.
For assembly, we go back to using a shared table. Ideally we would pick
out which one to use based on the position in the

Canon Pixma MP250 Printer
I have a Canon Pixma MP250 Printer. Tried the Linux drivers and still can't get an ink reading on it. I have tried every single program I can find, from InkBlot to the Canon software that comes with the Linux drivers and none of them will read this silly printer.
I didn't have a problem with it under Windows, but am having serious issues with the "genuine" stuff in it so was

I have a hp photosmart C3180 all-in-one and am well and truly sick of it.
It seems like every time I go on another printing binge,
I need yet another print cartridge.
hp-clean doesn't help.
IIRC this use it or lose it "feature" is common to inkjets.
What should I replace it with?
If I want a non-cloggging printer,
is laser jet the way I need to go?
I'd like to do color
