Lucida Sans Unicode
Is there an easy workaround for not having the Lucida Sans Unicode font under Wine? Can this lack of what is standard (at least for WinXP I think) be considered a bug? (if so, I will start a new bug # for it).

font inclusions in pdf files
I am stumbling into external font issues here and there. I presume using
external lucida fonts is fairly rare, so I am more likely to stumble onto
issues here. (of course, I often think I have stumbled onto bugs/features
that are not.) So, I hope I am not imposing by reporting the following.
[1] can R please not include fonts that it is not using?

Font question -- Dagesh
Dagesh 2002, latest and greatest, will work with Wine. Some of the Hebrew
fonts are not working but others are as well as unicode fonts and western
fonts with unicode as well. For example, David did not work but Frank Ruehl,
Lucida, etc. did.
Leave the KDE (or other desktop) keyboard as default English. Dagesh handles
its own keyboards. Nikud displays correctly, cantillactions signs work but

Lucida Sans Full Font
Here is an version of Lucida Sans called Lucida Sans Full.
It is only in regular, so you may want to increase the size of the
degree and the ring accent.

Recently, I found a small but big new bug in R 2.0.1.
Korean Language is shown as broken in R Gui terminal.
R 1.9.1 had not the problem, but R 2.0.1 makes the
problem. Korean is one of 2-byte character system,
and is supported in Unicode (of 3 byte). I don't know

Multiple language output - Correct in RGui, wrong in .txt after sink()
I have the following problem with outputting multilingual data to a file.
I get (except for Korean) what I expect as result in the RGui, but when I
use sink() to output to a text file loose the characters in the foreign
languages.
I post a small example below. Since I am not sure how well my email system
as the list copes with all the different characters I have additionally
created a pdf

Extrafont package: Fonts are not successfully installed
Hi,
I am using Extrafont package to install more fonts for my graphs. My
primary graphic tool is ggplot2. I seem to have problem installing the
package, but could not pinpoint where it is.
I try to follow the instruction here:

baraha - settings?
hello all, and apologies in advance for this newbie question. i recently
installed baraha direct 7.0 (a system-wide phonetic keyboard for indian
fonts) and it seems to open fine with wine, but the fonts aren't working
properly (its own fonts aren't phonetically controlled by keyboard input and
other unicode indian fonts aren't displayed in the proper scripts - but in
roman). figure

When is font fallback and/or non-Unicode support scheduled to be fully implemented?
Font fallback, at least for simplified Chinese, doesn't work at all.
(Characters are displayed as boxes usually) Users have to modify the
fonts via winecfg. Support for non-Unicode programs is also imcomplete
(displayed as weird characters that most probably belong to some
European charset).

cant run wine at all dammit
i used to be able to run wine perfectly, before i reinstalled debian (long story)
now ive tried compiling the winehq.com CVS source, the transgaming CVS
source, and the latest official release, but whenever i run ANYTHING at
all, before it even gets a chance to start up, it kills X, and drops me
back to teh console.

Windows: accessing an index with non-ASCII path
Hi,
Would someone know the appropriate magic to transform a Unicode Windows
path into something that Xapian can use with its open() calls ?
The index is relative to a user directory, the user is Korean, with a
Korean user name, the home directory is retrieved through a Windows Unicode
interface, the path to the index computed from this, and I can't find a way
to open it (tried misc
