Request to Edit Wiki
Hello,
I would like to contribute to the Wiki. A few things right off - I'd like to add to the "Yum and RPM Tricks" section and would also like to add information and tips on setting up CentOS machines for FPGA (Quartus/ISE/Modelsim) development.
Also, I use CentOS on a day to day basis for development, and would be happy to document any useful tips I come across in the future.

Problem with FlexLM licensing
I'm trying to run up ModelSim (a commercial simulator for hardware
description languages), which is licensed on FlexLM, using the hard disk
number. This program isn't listed in the apps database.
I have a valid license, and the Flex tools are correctly identifying,
under Wine, that there's a licence and that it's valid. They find the
appropriate env variable, identify the

Scott McPeak is rather familiar with the internals of gcc and edg and
says elsa is far simpler.

Ok. If you're not planning on extending the front-end,
understandability doesn't really matter ;-). I get where you're
coming from though!

Wine Over NFS
hi everybody.
I got a local network (10 machines), with one NFS server. I need install Modelsim XE in each computer. In the server machine I can change the serial number of the C:\ unit. But when I try to run in other machine (NFS Client) the software says that the serial number of the unit doesn't match with the serial number of the license file. When I look in the configuration (winecfg) the

C++ Runtime Error
Hi guys, I'm trying to run Quartus II v8 via Wine and everything works perfectly fine so far except when I try to run a simulation. The simulation finishes successfully but I get an error message:
Code:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\altera\80\quartus\bin\quartus.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please

Wine crashes on WoW install
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with WINE 1.2. I had to replace my hard drive, so this is a fresh install of both Ubuntu and WINE. I can accept the user agreements and open the installer, but when I get to the world.MPQ (i think thats the file) file, WINE crashes and tells me there was something wrong and the install hangs at 24%.
I'm fairly new to Ubuntu AND WINE so I don't know where to

FPGA encode stages flow diagram
Good day!
I create diagram of encoder process. Using it i create implementation of
encoder in FPGA (Xilinx/Altera). Please critique it. Is there missing
stages?

[LLVMdev] How to prevent duplication of function calls?
Hello,
Is it possible to prevent duplication of call sites for specific functions (while still maintaining -O3 optimization level)? For example, the following C code:
------------------
if (cond1) a=2;
llvm.memory.barrier(...);
------------------
is turned by clang with -O2 into something like this:
------------------
if (cond1)
a=2;
llvm.memory.barrier(...);

Regression in wine 0.9.49
Hi
just noticed a regression in wine 0.9.49 (compared versus 0.9.47).
One program (altera Quartus II) uses the computers NIC in order to verify
the software license. In wine 0.9.47 the program correctly identifies the
computer NIC, so validation works. In wine 0.9.49 the program does not find
any NICs, so license validation doesn't work.
Downgrading to 0.9.47 brings back this funtionality.

T4 templates R
Estimados

Theora running on FPGA
Great news! Theora is running on FPGA.
After almost a year of a great effort we have Theora validated on
FPGA. Now I will try to integrated the hardware with a video
controller to see the video!
I completely implemented the ExpandBlock, CopyRecon, LoopFilter and
UpdateUMVBorder functions.
The ReconRefFrames function was partially implemented and the part
before will run on a software compiled

What goes to Hardware ?
Hi people,
As I said before: I did the IDCT to run on the FPGA.
My friends from university did the Reconstruction routines running on the FPGA.
I'm helping with the LoopFilter, and it is almost there.
(all VHDL)
I did a small profiling of the libTheora running on a Altera Stratix II device:
The processor used was the NIOS II with 8Kb of data and instruction
cache, branch prediction and

Next step of Hardware Theora
Hello,
First of all, I would like to say that my work that I wrote in the other
email would be to do in hardware the functions: CopyRecon, LoopFilter and
UpdateUMVBorder. These are modules that Leonardo had made, but it wasn't ok
in FPGA. When I had a chat with Leonardo we were thinking in rewrite these
module for to do this running in FPGA (to debug in a Hardware level is much

[LLVMdev] How to prevent duplication of function calls?
Thanks Reid. It looks like the first thread didn't really get anywhere. The author most likely just modified the offending passes to respect the barriers (this is my guess based on what I read in that thread).
By the time back-end starts, it's too late, since the front end does some of the duplications.
For the record, I probably will end up doing the following:
- Modifying passes that
