bug on compilation (PR#11395)
Dear Mr.
Beginning to work on Linux.
I am trying to install R into Ubuntu Gustsy. I installed version 2.5.1 and worked fine. But then I tried to upgrade by adding these lines to sources.list:
deb http://cran.fiocruz.br/bin/linux/debian etch-cran/
deb http://cran.fiocruz.br/bin/linux/ubuntu gutsy/
I introduced the authorization keys (as recommended) and the files were downloaded. But then I

I think I figured out how to get wine to run the .net framework very well
I have recently heard about the silverlight project. The silverlight project is a plugin released by Microsoft for Linux that allows the use of .Net based apps on Linux. My only disagreement with using this plugin is the fact that Microsoft has been accessing XP and Vista systems without permission and changing software as stated by ZDnet. They call it Stealth Updating. Anyway that does not mean

NET 1.1 framework
Hi,
Is it possible to get an application that requires the MS NET framework to
run under WINE? I see the MONO site. If I build and run MONO would it allow me to
run an application under WINE? Actually I want to do this with a free program
called RUFZ to help sharpen morse code skills. Thanks

Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET problem
Hi to all,
I'm trying to run a windows app that needs mono under wine 1.2
I installed mono through winetricks with

but when I try to run the app with

I obtain
'wine: Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables'
and if I run 'wine uninstaller' I can see mono on app installed....
I tried also to clean .wine

Color coded 3D plot
I wonder whether it is possible in R to generate color-coded 3D plots, like the attached example.
Basically a function f(x,y) (the 3rd dimension) is rendered through colors intensities. The side color-bar is a guide to the
interpretation of the plot.
Thank you very much,

Re : .NET programs
Hi,
>
Windows .NET programs are usually linked to some native dlls or
something. In my experience, they don't usually run on Linux Mono.
Kevin N.
They can be properly written using .NET classes and linked to .NET libraries...
thus working without problem.

Using third-party dlls
I am in the process of trying to port a Windows library to Linux (maybe also to Mac, but let's not get ahead of ourselves). The existing library is essentially a facade layer to a number of third-party dlls (mostly COM-based, although one is .NET-based) over which I have no control. These third-party dlls have no UI of their own. Their purpose is to allow access to proprietary data formats.

Can Wine run .NET WPF applications?
When trying to run a sample .NET WPF application (that I wrote, just a
simple Hello World) I get the following message:
wine: Install Mono 2.8 or greater for Windows to run .NET 4.0 applications.
However, Mono cannot run WPF applications. Can I force Wine to run it?
Does Wine support WPF? This is with Wine 1.3.28 on the latest Kubuntu.
Thanks.

Could be, thoght the NAS box has the sending system as it's NTP server so
their times should be in sync.

Question on .NET, Mono and Visual C++ and WINE
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, forgive me if not.
I will soon start to contribute to a FOSS project written in Visual C++ and Visual Studio. I am a pure Linux user and was wondering what is the right way to make this app finally run on WINE. And how may I use a Visual Studio project on Linux? I know, this is probably kinda off-topic, but after all I still need a

Lazy Samba (that'd make it Waltz)
Funny thing happening with an NT Client: it sees all the files in a
public Samba share, but when I make any change (like renaming a file or
dropping files into it) the change doesn't show up in the window until I
press F5 (Refresh). Is it some config in Samba whichs defaults to "lazy"
behavior which I'm failing to see?
Thanx 4All,

Kernel 2.6.35 and .Net Framework
Is there anyone who can run .Net Framework 2.0 with the stable kernel 2.6.34 or 2.6.35?
I can successfully install dotnet2 both with kernel 2.6.33 and 2.6.35, but can only run it when booting into kernel 2.6.33. With kernel 2.6.35 I don't have the permission as user to run dotnet2, and get an access denied.
An example:
Running AGS (Adventure Game Studio) with kernel 2.6.33 works fine. But
