Hi everyone I have a problem with running 3d games on wine. Compiz and Linux native games work. When I run game the screen goes black and i hear sound from game intro. Then it crashes. [Crying or Very sad] I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy AMD64 Log from console : Code: net at net-desktop:/media/GameArea/MyData/Games/PainKiller/Bin$ wine Painkiller.exe preloader: Warning: failed to reserve

Apps slow down after several minutes
A problem I have with most applications I've tried is after several minutes, they will slow down to a crawl, becoming unusable. The program I'm mainly interested in is Painkiller (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/painkiller/index.html). It runs beautifully at first, and I can usually get through a level, but after that, it slows down or even stops. Is this an issue in Wine or could this

Dear vorbis-dev lurkers, I bring you the first beta release of vorbis-tools 1.3.0. It has quite a few new features and the final version will have even more, so I am sure it is to everyone's benefit that it gets as much tested as possible so we can do a quick release. Here's the changelog so far: * Fixed an error in configure.ac; --with-speex/flac work again (#1319) * Corrected

Display not refreshing when not moving mouse
Dear nouveau developers and users! After many years of dealing with the blob in my kernel, I decided it was time to move to an open source solution. With one of my machines, equipped with 9500GT it went almost flawlessly. I had to patch kernel to get GLXVBlank option working (only because I used the latest and greatest 3.7-rc6), but that is all, and I'm very happy with the result. Nouveau on

Comment regarding this list
Just a simple off topic but list related comment: The message headers in postings from this list seem to encourage off list responses since the list address only appears in the "To" header. The normal action when responding (at least by the uninitiated) is to simply reply which in many cases sends the response to the address in the "Reply-to" header if any or to the

xtable.by
Hi all, I have a series of measurements made over different types of road surfaces and capacity that I want to summarize in tables via LaTeX. Ideally I'd like a table similar to this ( http://www.andy-roberts.net/misc/latex/tutorial4/multirow.png ) with mean/SD of the measurement broken down by road type (both surface and capacity). Ideally it would be extensible so that when I add layers

Process to get games working better?
For example, I checked Painkiller on AppDB and it works fine, I don't get any keyboard or mouse issues anymore (avoid Compiz), so I decided to try that game first. It loads all fine but in game a lot of objects are missing like monsters. The game is pretty unplayable if you can't see what you are shooting at. Invisible or unloaded objects in games is a common problem for me. So what

Re: Poor sound quality on anything other than "emulation&qu
Hello everyone, my first post here :) I know this is an old thread but is similar with my problem. IMHO the sound card type is not relevant because I'm having the same issue on every PC and card I've tried so far, so I'll skip that. At the moment I'm playing "Enclave" using wine 1.1.43 compiled from source on PCLinuxOS and Mandriva, and the behavior is the same no

Passing data to aov
Hello Again Gurus and Lurkers: I?m trying to build a very user-friendly function which does aov without having the user type in a formula (which would be tedious in this case). The idea is to take the response from a PCA score matrix, and the factors from a list. A simple example is the function given below, along with test data and a sample call to the function. I'm certainly having

Port density: DS3 cards?
Obviously, there are no DS3 TDM cards that are currently compatible with Zap channels. (or are there?) Does anyone know of an inexpensive DS3 card that could perhaps be used with Asterisk if one were to try to port the Zap drivers to such a card? PCI, of course, would be the bus of choice. I think there are quite a few discouraging comments to be made on that question. Firstly, most

On the client side, I am having trouble finding the right options so that it will connect up to the local server with out fork() a copy of itself or trying to exec the rsh command. This is on RSYNC 2.5.5 on OpenVMS Alpha. If

I've been following the progress of LLVM since doing a review of the technology for Apple in 2003. Hope to be using it for one of my own projects soon, so I will be attending the meeting in May to make sure I am current and to be able to connect names and coding styles with people. Close list to outsider's posts?
Hi I'm assuming that Wayne is the obvious destination for this request. Can we make the mailing list reject emails from non-subscribers? This would drastically reduce the amount of spam we receive. Thanks, Shachar -- Shachar Shemesh Lingnu Open Source Consulting ltd. Have you backed up today's work? http://www.lingnu.com/backup.html
