Rgui.exe fix for "console not found" buffer overflow problem
I'm using R on Windows XP Professional SP2. I figured out the fix for my buffer overflow problem that did not allow me to use Rgui.exe for about two weeks. I would keep getting "console not found" and even when I uninstalled and re-installed got the same problem. Here's how the problem started. In Rgui.exe, I attempted to get more visible output in the buffer (I wanted

stuck tcltk scrollbars under Windows XP
Dear R-devel list members, I've encountered a problem with my Rcmdr package under Windows XP and could use some advice: The Rcmdr package uses the tcltk package to create menus and dialog boxes. My standard procedure when a dialog is created is to grab the focus -- e.g., by tkfocus(top) tkgrab(top) (Here, top is a top-level window -- say, containing one or more scrollbars.)

Telemarketer Torture
Hello-- I submitted of extensions.conf that contains my "telemarketer torture" menus, last week sometime to the mailing list. I got back a note from the mailing list machinery, stating that it was too big, and would be subject to approval. No such approval came, I guess. Either I missed it, or it didn't rate, or the moderator just plain hasn't gotten around to it yet. So, I

To leave windows behind
My goal is to say goodbye to Windows and you all are doing a great job towards this end. However, I have two sticking points that I could use some help with. 1. Internet Explorer installed and comes up well. However, I want to use the msn Investment Portfolio which has a set of secondary menus down the side and each of these have tertiary menus which I want to access. These tertiary menus are

Scroll bar arrows missing and behaviour change
I have done some Googling on this but everything I've found appears to be at least 2 years old and mostly refers to Gnome TBH, I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned it - maybe it's only happened to me. At some point over the last few months the behaviour of the scroll bars changed and I'm finding it very annoying. Firstly, the arrows have vanished. Secondly, when clicking

Menu issues with WeatherScope
Hi all, In my continuing efforts to get Weatherscope working in wine, I've noticed an issue with the menubar. (WeatherScope is available here: http://sdg.ocs.ou.edu/builds/final/win/WeatherScope/WeatherScope-1.2.1.exe) Specifically, the menubar is not normally visible while running under Wine. I am still able to access the menus by clicking on them, but I have to guess as to their position.

what is the best way for an external interface to interact with graphics, libraries
Another message about the R to TeXmacs interface. 1. Graphics The TeXmacs interface allows the user to directly insert graphics into the session. Since I am not very familiar with programming for R, I implemented the interaction with graphics in a very primitive way. It was two modes of working: with X11, and without (for example when working remotely through ssh without forwarding X11). In

top posting again [was: Re: CDR Design]
Well, it seems this opened one large can of worms. Anyway, just to repeat my previous plea - and to echo David's request - can we please stop all this 'top post' rubbish and move on with our lives? intermittent scrollbar behavior
I'm using Codeweavers Wine Preview 4 under Mandrake 8.0 to run Forte Agent. At first everything works fine. But after a while, particularly if it's the second or later time I've run it since booting the system, I find that I can no longer scroll a window by holding the mouse button down on one of the arrow buttons at the end of the scrollbar. That is to say, clicking on the button

Using R with screenreading software
Dear R-Experts, a student of mine tries to use the Windows-Rconsole with screen reading software (she is blind), and cannot access the command line (Menus are ok). The company which produces her screen reader tells her that this is due to the cursor used in Rconsole, which is static, not blinking. They maintain that if the cursor could be changed to a blinking one, she should be able to access

UI regression
Hi, Earlier this year I "upgraded" from wine 20010510 to 20011226 in order to see if some kind of resource leak was fixed which caused screen redraws to get progressively slower and slower and slower and slower, .... That was fixed but there seemed to be a significant number of graphics and UI regressions. I've just upgraded to 20020228 to see if things were any better and within

Dear all, I have SuSE 7.3, wine20010731, XFree86 4.1.0 After starting a standard 'Windows' application (which was WenLin2 demo, and which I had previously run under an older version of Wine and an older version of XFree) the mouse doesn't work properly, After clicking on the scroll bar, the scroll bar just keep on heading down (or up as the case may be), even after I have let go of

wine and snood
Hello, I just installed Slackware 8.0, and I am trying to get a little game called snood working. I'm almost there, but i have run into a few problems and any help would be appreciated. When the game starts, it begins in a window, with another window aski9ng for registration. When I hit "try" It kind of goes into full screen. I say kind of because the game window is still the

Graphical User Interface (GUI)
I'd like to create a user interface for my R code and have only seen mostly older posts on the subject. I'm not looking for an IDE for development, but something that the end user of the software would use. So something that would involve displaying buttons, listboxes, and drop down menus to a user that will facilitate various actions. I doubt there is anything Visual Studio-like that

CentOS 5 x86: Missing features
Hi, I am surprised how some features are missing from CentOS 5. So far, I found missing: 1) GNOME Session does not prompt for saving on log out. 2) There isn't a "Run" option in the GNOME menus for running programs.

Hi, I''m trying to write a sidebar menu with dynamic menus, and to do so I would like to define a list of menus to display within my sidebar component controller code and pass that list to the component display view, like so: # menu_controller.rb class Sidebar::MenuController < ActionController::Base uses_component_template_root @menus = %w{admin user help} def display

mate crash
While playing an audio in totem, the mate desktop crashed. I couldn't switch to a console like I use to be able to do with ctrl-alt-F{n} - seems that is gone is from CentOS. I couldn't open a terminal by right clicking on the desktop. I was able to open a folder, navigate to /usr/bin and open gnome-terminal that way and issue the shutdown command. Since switching to virtual consoles

Digest reading is tedious
Like many, I am sure, I get R-Help in digest form. Its easy enough to browse the subject lines, but then if an entry interests you, you have to embark on this tedious search or scroll to find it. It would be great to have a "clickable" digest, where the topics list is a set of pointers, and clicking on a topic takes you to that entry. I can think of at least one way to do this via
