HOW to Create Movies with R with repeated plot()?
Dear R-helpers, Is it possible to create a type of 'movie' in R based on the output of several figures (e.g., jpegs) via the plot() function. I obtained dynamic results with the plotting function and would like to save these as a movie (e.g., avi or other formats)? configuration question
Hello, The first thing I would suggest is to check freshmeat.net and see if there is something comparable to astound out there for linux, therefore bypassing the whole windows program need, bypassing the need for most pay-per-license fees. As far as running a windows program under linux, you would need WINE, vmware or some other win-emulator. Hope this advise helps some. -----Original

wine and avi2dvd
When I run avi2dvd in ubunto Jaunty, the program can not load the audio stream (I know about the "path/file and file name" issues and that is not the problem . Has anyone found a workaround for this program yet? Your Appd mentioned some codec issues. At this point I have no other programs loaded in wine to conflict. Any help will be advised

[PATCH 1/4] drm/edid: Pass connector to AVI inforframe functions
From: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala at linux.intel.com> Make life easier for drivers by simply passing the connector to drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode() and drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range(). That way drivers don't need to worry about is_hdmi2_sink mess. Cc: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher at amd.com> Cc: "Christian König" <christian.koenig at amd.com>

More information on GSoC project
hello everybody, I would like to participate in GSoC 2008 program under xiph.org. I went through the open project list[1] and found the project " Theora encoding support in GIMP" proposal interesting. I'd really grateful to you if you can give me more information on this, including 1. Why GIMP need encoding support? 2.If you have any guidance in integrating encoding support for GIMP

Accelerated video output with ffmpeg2theora 0.24
When I converted two files with ffmpeg2theora their duration changed shorter - they seem to play back with accelerated speed. When I play one of them with VLC, the video stops at 99 seconds but audio continues until 170 seconds. The other file is 120 seconds long but it is played back in 80 seconds. Here is ffmpeg2theora output: $ ffmpeg2theora --optimize --inputfps 25 -F 25 2002-05-23\ Juho\

Piping AVI to ffmpeg2theora
I wish to transcode an AVI from 29fps to 15fps theora. I have tried many combinations. The nearest I have so far is to: 1) ffmpeg -i input.avi -f avi -vcodec rawvideo -acodec pcm_s16le -r 15 -ar 22050 -ac 1 intermediate.avi then 2) ./ffmpeg2theora-0.15.linux.bin -f avi -c1 -H 22050 -o out.ogg intermediate.avi This gives me an output I want, however, the intermediate uncompressed stage

Creating Movies with R
Dear All, I'd like to know if it is possible to create animations with R. To be specific, I attach a code I am using for my research to plot some analytical results in 3D using the lattice package. It is not necessary to go through the code. Simply, it plots some 3D density profiles at two different times selected by the user. I wonder if it is possible to use the data generated for different

Hi, I am using syslinux to produce autoplaying avi CDs (i.e. the CD contains an avi file and a minimum linux system plus the mplayer so that mplayer plays automatically the movie after the boot using the framebuffer device) to avoid things like bringing avis at friend's homes just to find out that they have only M$WinXX and the M$ MediaPlayer won't play my avi. Here is my problem: at

OGG/OGM media container
Hi all, Xiph aims at developing open-standards media formats. Though xiph.org tells about vorbis/theora/flac/speex, nothing is mentioned about container to use (that is ogg/ogm). I have a few questions Is there a difference between ogg and ogm? I guess its only the extension that is different and everything else is same. Some tools (like ogmtools) are available to create ogm files. What is

Vorbis + AVI
hi - does anyone on this list know if it is possible to use the vorbis audio codec in conjunction with an AVI file?? what would it take to do this? are there any apps written for this already, that could prove this codec useful with an AVI?? I can attach MP3 to an AVI of course, but there are many playback problems (mainly sync + crappy sound) with MP3... any of you developers working on

Playing AVI files in fake Windows
Reading the documentation I can see that MCI AVI dll is not implemented except as stubs. Is there any way to play AVI files without installing Windows, say by installing Media Player? Further bug discovered with the Directshow decoder
Hi good people, Just to inform: I finally fed FFMpeg2Theora with a .VOB input, and the .OGV output produced played back beautifully in VLC, both audio and video. However, the same output .OGV file gave clicks and pops in the audio when fed through Directshow programs. I played it through Windows Mediaplayer as well as through Winamp, with the same crackles in the audio, and this leads me to
