Firefox 3 Darwine Errors
Just completed a fresh install of Darwine 1.0b and Xquartz to fix some application issues and discovered when I downloaded and installed the Windows version of Firefox I get the following series of errors. This is a partial log since the errors just continue as long as Firefox is open until either WineHelper crashes or Firefox crashes. I have manually downloaded Flash from the adobe site, it

Magellan Roadmate tools 3050T & Suse 10.2
I am trying to access my GPS using wine 0.9.24 0n Suse 10.2 and Cxoffice 6.0 Beta 3a . Cxoffice 5.03 does not work at all with my Suse 10.2 installation. The Magellan road mate tools work well enough in both cxoffce beta and wine, however wine seems to handle it better when importing POI ( Points of Interest) files. Overall I think the wine included with Suse 10.2 is doing a better job -

ASTRO (logy) under wine - understanding the debug output?
Hello Wine Users, I have setup wine in fedora 10 x86_64. I installed speaker workshop and it works fine. This encouraged me to install my old astrology software (ASTRO, by the late Peter Treadgold). The program was released in 1996 and updated in 2000. It calculates birth and death charts and displays them on screen. When I get to the point to have the chart displayed, the chart may or may not

Error installing MacPorts rb-fxruby...
Hi all, I''m encountering an error while trying to install the MacPorts version of fxruby on a Intel Mac running 10.4.11. It appears to be having trouble installing and building the ''fox'' library prerequisite. It looks like it''s having trouble generating the libraries: "-o .libs/libFOX-1.6.0.0.34.dylib" and "-o libFOX-1.6.la". The errors

Porticus/Port Authority for MacPorts GUI front-end?
I''ve noticed that there are two different programs which can serve as a GUI front end for MacPorts. Would like to hear who uses what, and differences between the two programs. NSD 3.2.1 in MacPorts
Hello NSD users, I've updated the NSD port in the MacPorts tree to version 3.2.1, so that MacPorts users on OS X can install it with a simple "port install nsd" command. The port has two variants, viz. "stats" and "rootserver". Note that after installing the port, one still needs to copy PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf.sample to PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf and customise

This message reports a problem, and its solution. I found the solution while posting. Since others may have the same problem, I am continuing with the post. PROBLEM I am having a different problem than the one that others have reported (e.g. http://www.nabble.com/Problem-Installing-2.6.0-on-Mac-tf4778736.html#a13674247). Whether I try to install R as a whole, or individual packages, the

Building Wine Using Macports
I've got the source of Wine 1.2.1 (patched to my liking) and I'm trying to build it using Macports so I don't have to manually install each required package (that's how I understand it at least, I failed at doing it through 'make' in an earlier post because I was missing a bunch of packages despite having X11 and Xcode). Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this, and even

R, Macports and C++ streams
Dear all, R on Macports relies on GCC 4.3 to build packages. I find that packages with shared objects that use C++ streams crash R if they're compiled using Macports' gcc43, but work fine if compiled in exactly the same way using Apple-supplied GCC 4.2. Has anyone here had the same issue/know what is causing this problem? Thanks, Ernest

Trouble with MacPorts install, .profile file not created/ need help
I have just installed MacPorts 1.7.0 for Leopard using a downloaded .dmg file. Following the download and installation, I looked for the .profile file to change the environment variables, but found that no .profile file was created. When I tried to do so, I got an error message: /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit .profile 2008-12-27 14:19:02.393 TextEdit[47100:10b] ***

building biOps on macports, and configure--vars
All, the MacOSX binary build of the biOps package is broken on cran, so I am trying to compile from source. I am very close; the trick is apparently that this package depends on fftw3, libjpeg and libtiff. My fftw3 is in /usr/local/, but my libjpeg and libtiff are in /opt/local/ since i got them through macports. In general, I'd like to keep as many of my third-party libraries as I can in the

Installing mysql with macports
Not sure if this is off topic, but there doesn''t seem to be an obvious place to ask this question. I am trying to use MacPorts to install mysql. OSX MacPort Install 1.0.1 - winecfg problems
I tried a binary install of Darwine last week but wasn't that happy and wanted to go for the more "authentic" MacPort install. OSX 10.5.6 Everything seemed to install properly, but the first thing I wanted to check was winecfg to set up the drives a bit differently. It didn't load very well as the first tab of winecfg loads (Application Settings), but the buttons at the bottom

Problem with the game "Pilgrim"
Hi, "Pilgrim" is a quite old, not very popular, adventure from "Arxel Tribe", designed for Windows 95. But is has a very good story, riddles and atmosphere and so I would love to play it. Unfortunately the game crashes at a specific point in the game, which did not happen on my old Win95-PC (doesn't exist anymore). For those who might be familiar with that games, its when

samba 4 installation failing several troubleshooting steps
Troubleshooting steps fail. Trying to replace a standalone Netware server with a Samba4 server with AD. To isolate this test setup, changed server's static IP address and separated the wiring. Then went through the Troubleshooting portion of The Samba Checklist. Some tests pass. Some tests fail. I'm weak on Samba, DNS and AD. I appreciate your instructions on how to overcome the

OED2 CDROM only displays small caps font
Hi. I've recently updated to Suse 9.3, and my OED2 CDROM software no longer works properly under Wine - the dialog and general system text of the application still displays properly, but the application data, the results lists and definition text, doesn't. Essentially, the problem seems to be that Wine seems to think that this kind of text has to be displayed as small caps. The
