Rosetta Stone question
I accidentally sent this to winehq.com, so I'm re-sending it just in case...

Hello all,
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and mounting a Windows XP partition under /mnt/win.
I'm also running Wine 1.2.
When I try running Rosetta Stone under wine, I simply get the
following error from RS:

I did some research using AppDB and

Update Broke Rosetta Stone
I have RS version 3.4.7 and I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 x64. When I start the app, everything works up until I click my username, then the main application area is blank (title bar and exit and help menus are still visible and functional). It has worked fine for months; the only thing that has changed is that I recently accepted the latest system wine update. I ran the app from the command line:

Rosetta Stone
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and WINE 1.2.
WineHQ APPDB states that Rosetta Stone is not installable.
I have installed it, so the information there is not correct/complete.
When I installed, it ran perfectly. I created an ISO of the install disc and the first lesson. I then loop mounted each of them in turn for them to run and assigned each of them a windows directory, configuring them as CD-ROM.

Unable to run Watchtower Library 2007 Japanese : font ?
Hello,
I was using both version of WTLib 2007 (French and Japanese) under Unbuntu7.10 and Wine 0.9.47 and it worked fine with just an installation of VCRedist and some japanese fonts in windows folder. But recently i moved my system to the new Ubuntu8.04 with the last version of wine : 1.0 RC1.
I read that i don't need to install vcredist and font anymore. It's supposed to be a platinum

Re: Rosetta Stone
Here is my experience with Rosetta Stone:
I am SO unhappy with Rosetta Stone. I purchased a RS language program from a vendor who was using a fake licensing certificate and stolen credit cards to buy thousands of RS products and resell them. The guy is now in jail and was ordered to pay restitution to Rosetta Stone. I only found this out when I contacted them to get a deactivation code to

Re: Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
Sadly, I do not have an answer either, but I would also like to request help on this subject.
This seems to be a common issue, yet I can't find a resolution anywhere.

Rosetta Stone Language
running Debian Lenny
Wine 1.0
Rosetta Stone 2.08.1

i found this in the AppDB
mount -t iso9660 -o norock,map=off,ro /dev/cdrom /whereyouwantRosettaStonetolook
it mounts the cd and changes the file names from lowercase to uppercase
theres also a command to mount the iso
after that Rosetta Stone works

Rosetta Stone V 3.3.5 Microphone Detection
Hi, so I'm rather new to Linux. With a little bit of fiddling I was able to install Rosetta Stone (version 3.3.5). I'm running the latest versions of Wine and Ubuntu.
Everything in Rosetta Stone is working great, however, it can not detect my microphone (which is not a USB headset, it is built in). I can't think of what could be wrong, as the microphone itself works fine in Sound

Rosetta Stone again
Many people have discussed the problems with Rosetta Stone, in
particular the failure to detect the cdrom with the "Language Pack".
I am having the same problem, but none of the described solutions work
for me.
I think that my dosdevices are configured correctly:

The Rosetta Stone : Installer doesn't work
Hello,
I'm trying to install The Rosetta Stone v2.08 (language learning software) on a Debian Squeeze (w/ linux 2.6.28-2~snapshot.12850 for my wireless card) using wine 1.1.18.
Running the autorun.exe (with ALSA as audio driver in winecfg) starts on working well, asking me what language the install should be in, and then allowing me to click on "Run installer". At that point,

problems installing Rosetta stone language program
Hi everyone!
Wine is a wonderful program but I have one problem with it - I cannot
install the language learning program "Rosetta stone". I have an
ubuntu system on a Dv1263 HP computer and when I try to install it I
get this message: "fixme:font:WineEngRemoveFontResourceEx :stub"
Does anybody know what I should do with this?
Thanks for the help! ;-)

Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
All hail the day my audio problems with Wine stop! :)
So, to recap my system configuration:
hw 0,0 is my X-Fi
hw 1,0 is onboard Intel HD Audio
hw 2,0 is my AK5370 Logitech USB Microphone
I finally have all of these devices working properly in Wine, or so I
thought. Both sound cards work in Ventrilo and WoW. The Logitech USB Mic
works in Ventrilo, so it must be configured properly, right?
