Locking issue with Lightroom and Photoshop
Hi folks, I have an issue at a weird confluence of macOS Mojave's "nsmb" client, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and Samba 4.7.6-Ubuntu. Since I don't have much control over Apple or Adobe software, I'm hoping there's some smb.conf magic (or other sage advice) that might help me out of this jam. For reference, Samba is configured for SMB2-only access (i.e. durable file

Lightroom and Wine or Mac version
Hi, I'm Paolo. I want to install Adobe Lightroom on my Kubuntu. The installation was finished successfully, but when I wrote the licence number, after I received an error message, that say that he can't write the file; then my Lightroom installation don't work. I read on this website, Adobe Lightroom's page, that this program works slowly on wine, but there is a note that say

Installing Lightroom CS3
I decided to try to install Lightroom today and with some very minor tweaks, I had success. First, I'm running WINE 0.9.59 on Ubuntu Gutsy. When you try to install Lightroom (v1.4.1), everything seems to go smoothly until the .msi gets called. Then you receive an error stating that you must be running Windows XP in order to install Lightroom. To correct this, simply browse to ~/.wine/ and

rsync 2.6.2 doesn't work with GNU inetutils rsh
Hi, Not sure when this stopped working, because I'm sure it used to. This is the cygwin build of rsync, with the standard cygwin rsh (which is a fairly old GNU inetutils 1.3.2). ~=> rsync --rsh=rsh -vv bibble: opening connection using rsh bibble rsync --server --sender -vvr . rsh: unknown option -- server Try `rsh --help' for more information. rsync: connection unexpectedly closed

m4v
Hi, I run 5.2, how do I play m4v videos? I am not trying to remove any DRM, only to view some Internet videos such as Lightroom killer tips: (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/videos/download.php?file=lightroom_foldersanddrives.m4v) uses m4v files. Any suggestion? -- Thanks

Can't get wine to run any programs: included error message.
Okay I just installed the latest ver of Ubuntu and then installed the beta ver of Wine because the non-beta told me that it wouldn't install on AMD x 64 type computers. So I just installed the beta Wine version and I can't get any programs to run at all using wine. I also am having many pages on this forum stalling out, so i tried to read the user manual but i am not able to load it.

rsync is concatenating the files together
I am seeing a really odd problem with Rsync 2.6.2 and 2.6.3. I am trying to rsync a directory containing some 2gb files from a Solaris 9 NFS server to a Solaris 10b69 NFS client. Rsync is running on the Solaris 10 client. Here is the source directory as seen from the client: Source directory: -rwxr--r-- 1 root priv 1270666114 Jan 3 2004 FLY.GHO* -rwxr--r-- 1 root priv

Authenticating against a Windows 2000 DC?
I apologize in advance if this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find the FAQ document for this list. I also could not find anything relevant in other Samba documentation sources like http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba.html. There seems to be plenty of information about using Samba *as* a DC, but I want to know if I can use Samba *with* a Windows 2000 DC. We have two DCs running Windows 2000, a W2K

One-to-one or one-to-many association
Hi, I am creating a stock control application. I have a table called "equipment_type" that stores a general description of a piece of equipment. This could be for instance: Canon 60D DSLR camera. I also have an table called "equipment" that stores all the equipment we have with their serial numbers. There may be many Canon 60Ds and they should refer to the

Wrapping a Windows DLL
Hi, maybe this is a common question, in which case I would be very glad for a few pointers to corresponding information. Here is what I am hoping to achieve: A device (a DSLR, but that should not really matter) can be controlled by the computer via USB. The manufacturer provides an SDK and a couple of DLLs, but no USB documentation and certainly no source. It's using the SDK or

reading in data problems
Hi I have a dataset (.txt file and .dat file) in which the length of one record is 144. There is no header in the .txt or .dat file itself. When I read this file using the read.table command, and want to drop some coloumns by setting the argument colClasses to "NULL" for the columns that I want to drop, it does not work, because the entire record of the length 144 is being treated as

For some reason It's not erroring now, I will look into it more, but I suspect it鈥檚 the settings, the last thing mentioned David > [globa]l section is fine, as long as it's not also set in the share section. So, yeah, that may have fixed im for the time being not getting the sparse errors, for the first time in 4 months, however, there is a couple other problems, so hopefully they

Routes
hi all, I want to move some routing tasks out of the router and into the controller. The goal is to make Merb feel less like mod_rewrite and give the user more control at the controller. The new Router is simple: it takes the path_info (not the whole request) then outputs a controller class and some parameters from the path matching. The rest of the routing would be done at the controller level.

Wide links and insecure wide links
Thank you. So, If I understand correctly, "ordinary" "wide links = yes", means Samba *will* traverse an existing symlink that points outside the root of the share, if permissions allow. However because it *also* disables SMB1 Unix extensions, it *also* prevents the user from creating or modifying symlinks on the share, so in wffect it inherently prevents this being

Hi David, Configured as you mention, and prior with the other tweaks I had in the first place, Im getting the same results, which is "FSUTIL utility requires a Local NTFS Volume", and mapping it. I then went to contig, `contig -n X:\share\sparesefile 0`, as well as a few other size. Maybe im using it wrong, but some testing on contig has only "Access is denied" when I try
