wineboot has encountered a serious problem and needs to clos
Hi
I just installed wine on Ubuntu 8.04 from wine repos and hence have version 1.1.23.
After installing, I run:
Code:
winecfg
and had the following message:
> wineboot has encountered a serious problem and needs to close
However, I'm still able to access to the settings of winecfg. So I don't know:
-why is there a problem with winecfg and how to remedy?
-wether this problem is

Wine in virtual desktop for a specific program only
Hi folks!
I'm trying to run a windows application in wine, using a virtual desktop.
I want this featur for a specific program only, and if I try to set this via winecfg, it doesn't work!
I have unchecked the virtual desktop option in the Graphic panel (in winecfg) for global settings, and I have added the application that I want to start in a virtual desktop. Therefore I've checked

Wine virtual desktop size
Hi,
I got my Wine's virtual desktop size messed up to 1x1px, and it's
enabled, so I can't get to winecfg to change it to bigger. What to do?
I wouldn't like to reinstall Wine, as I would need to reinstall all
programs installed to it too?
I have Wine 0.9.9 on Ubuntu Dapper.

Wine has stopped working??
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but all of a sudden none of my wine applications work, including winecfg!
Looking at the output below, I have a feeling it's something to do with the printers? In fact, I seem to recall it worked for running AcrossLite one day recently, then crashed while I was trying to print from the application, then hasn't worked since... any ideas?

I broke wine
Ok, I was following a guide to install Office 2007 on Ubuntu 8.04 with Wine. I added exceptions (rpcrt4.dll and msxml.dll) as Native (Windows). After doing so wine broke, I can't even open winecfg to remove these exceptions. I've tried removing wine completely with Synaptic are reinstalling but nothing is helping, I currently have v 1.1.19 installed, it's still not working.

WINE configuration GUI too big for windowed desktop
Hi. I'm a total newbie when it comes to WINE. just installed it yesterday to get my Fallout 2 action on (which is working swimmingly).
However, I'm coming across a problem, in that I can't actually reach the "apply" or "OK" or "Cancel" buttons on the WINE configuration tabs anymore. I don't exactly know how this happened, but I think it might have

Re: Call for volunteers
Austin - another quick question:
I've tested a few bugs using the latest compiled fresh from git (wine-1.1.23-273-gc293285) but then began wondering if I should be using the latest beta instead - 1.1.23?
I'm also confused if I'm doing something wrong because I tried to install directx 9.0c to test dxdiag and after extracting I ran wine dxsetup.exe. That failed with these errors and

error opening winecfg
I updated my distro from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 yesterday. I did not
update wine because the version it wants to use is 1.1.23 and I remember
several posts of people having trouble with either .23 or .24.
All of my games and office/work programs run fine through wine, but the
wine cfg window will not start up. I get:
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No

Configuring wine
When I run the winecfg command, (after installing wine) either from the menu or by a command in Terminal after a few seconds the whole PC freezes and has to be rebooted to continue.
I am running the latest Ububntu version with a reasonable spec PC. I have fully renistalled Ubuntu and also removed and reinstalled wine several times. Having searched this forum the only mention of a similar problem

Wine Won't load - New to Linux, was initially impressed :-(
I have recently switched to Ubuntu 8.04. And being a user that still needs the functionality of MS Office, I attempted to install Office 2007 by following the instructions @
http://samanathon.com/how-to-install-microsoft-office-2007-in-ubuntu-804/
And during the setup I fear that I have misinterpreted something as I now can't even get to the Wine configuration menu.
I Have tried removing

C&C3 won't start
Hello!
I'm trying to run C&C3 Tiberium Wars on my Fedora11 x86_64 using Wine 1.1.23
In the AppDB (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7440), it's listed as Silver so I though I would give this game a try. Specially as the note says it works with unpatched Wine 1.1.23.
I successfully installed the game and also patched (the game) to 1.9
But once I try to

Hello
I just installed Wine on my Fedora Core 6 using YUM. I can run winecfg
but when I try to launch any app, including the notepad (included with
Wine), the whole system freezes and I have no choice than pressing the

It shows no error msg, only reads the HD for a while and then hangs.
My PC is P IV with 512 MB and a S3 ProSavage video card.

Kubuntu and Wine Problems
I have run into a few problems in getting applications to work with Kubuntu. I'm running Kubuntu 9.04 and Wine 1.1.23.
If installing an application, I get errors during the process and the installation is aborted. If just running certain executables, the Wine Loader shows up in the task bar but the disappears after a few seconds without the application running.
I was able to install Call

Font config in Desktop Integration broken when switching locales
As a translator, It is frequent for me to switch between locales (en_US.utf8
and zh_CN.utf8 for me), but the font configurations in winecfg/'Desktop
Integration' gets broken under certain circumstances.
To demonstrate, I run winecfg with LANG=zh_CN.utf8, and set the 'Menu Text'
(????) font to 'WenQuanYi Zen Hei Sharp' (???????) 10pt (shot00.png). It
turns out fine

No printing possible in wine 0.9.15
Hello List,
I just installed wine-0.9.15, because I wasn't able to print with
