Could you post your .wine/user.reg ? the DllOverrides section?

Curse of Monkey Island doesn't work with wine 0.9.24
I installed the game like it is described in the WineHQ application
database. The installation worked without problems but running the game
produced the following error message:
Cannot create DirectSound object (-2147467259)
I got around this by switching off OSS sound and using ALSA instead,
but know I have the same problem that Erich Hoover mentioned in the
AppDB. The music starts to play but

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from Steam
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Thinkpad T500, I believe I'm using the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics that come with it. I'm using the default WINE install, I think version 1.1.42. I'm trying to run Monkey Island 2: Special Edition downloaded from Steam.
It actually sort of works. It installed just fine. When I first ran it gave me a blank screen and that was it.

HowTo run Monkey Island 4 with wine
Hi,
because nobody was able to tell me why I wasn't able to run Monkey Island
in wine I now tell you what i did to get it running:
I have installed wine with the transgaming directx patch (which is not
necessary for wine). Monkey Island defaulted to DirectX when I started it,
but the Transgaming Patch is yet not good enough to run MI4.
To get it running you have to to the following:

wine and Monkey Island 4
Hi,
today I wanted to start Monkey Island 4 with wine. I'am using cvs version
of wine from today (04.Feb.2001), I also patched the transgaming directx
patch into it.
My system: SuSE 7.0 with KDE2.1beta2, GeForce 2MX with 0.96 NVidia drivers,
Soundblaster PCI 128 (ES1371) with Kernel drivers.
I use wine with installed Windows. My startup command is:
wine "c:\Monkey4\Monkey.exe"

installing/running Monkey Island 3 and 4
I have problems running Monkey Island 3 here. Installing it works fine,
but the problems comes when trying to run it. When pressing "Play Game" (I
think that's what the button says), the program just wants to install
DirectX 5.0. I guess that trying to install it is NOT an option, when
you're using wine.
Second, installing Monkey Island 4 is not successful, because you have

Secret of Monkey Island SE, steam on wine, crashes on start
I'm wondering if anyone can help me?
I'm trying to run Secret of Monkey Island special edition in Steam on wine with Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat. I can install steam and use it to install the game (after it installs directx), apparently with no problems, but when I try to run the game, a window opens saying "Preparing to launch The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition". No mouse in Monkey island 4
Escape from monkey island is reported to work in the appdb, but on my system I can't get the mouse working. There is no cursor at all. I'm not using Compiz when using wine. Wine version: 1.0
I also tried a patched version of wine and the mouse still does not work in MI4.
Any solution? Perhaps editing xorg?
Thanks in advance...

oggdropXPd.exe crashes when resampling is activated
I need to encode a WAV to OGG but must resample to 22050 samples per second,
but can't do that with oggdropXPd.exe. The application always crashes.
What I do is:
Start oggdropXPd.exe. Right-click on fish, choosing 'Encoding Options'.
Under Advanced Options, I set Re-sample to 22050 samples per second. Click
'Accept'. Drag WAV on fish. In the directory where the WAV originates,

Silly answers to silly questions for a silly Noob.
OK, I'm a noob to Wine. I've figured some stuff out with Wine and it sees everything I want it to see just fine.
OK, I understand why you don't want Wine to see your windows install, but I put all my program installs on a separate partition. Now with this in mind can I just have Wine look at my Program Files and run my apps from there, or do I have to reinstall all the apps I want

Tales of Monkey Island
Hello everyone...
Although it says in the AppDB that this runs flawlessly, I haven't been able to run it...
Installation goes fine and I also add the missing DirectX dll to the system32 dir. But, after running the game there is only the white window (although I hear the sound, so I guess it's not frozen).
These messages appear in the terminal:

Direct3D missing?
I was going through wine's registry trying to optimize a few things, but then i noticed my HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D directory was missing. It stops at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\ . . . .
Does anyone know why this is or how i can fix the problem? I am running the latest version of wine on Ubuntu 8.04.
I really would like to be able to change my graphics settings......

Cannot see Direct3D options in winecfg Graphics tab?
Hi,
I have just compiled Wine CVS on my P3 and dual P4 Linux boxes, and have been examining the
settings in winecfg. However, I have noticed that the Graphics tab on my P3 machine has options
for Direct3D, whereas on my dual P4 it does not. Both machines are running Linux 2.6.12.3 with
XOrg 6.8.2, and have both DRI enabled and working Xv support. Both machines also have the d3d
shared objects

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] "Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend" proposal
Here's the other of my proposals for this year's Google Summer of Code.
(The first is on cfe-dev.) It was suggested to me by Dan Kegel (from the
Wine project, they really want this).
Title: Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend
Abstract:
There is a distinct lack of open-source frameworks for compiling HLSL,
the shader language used by Direct3D, into bytecode that D3D can
