wineboot not working as expected
I'm trying to install "Microsoft Digital Image 9", and the very first thing it does is configures a few files then immediately prompts the user it's going to reboot. I press "Ok", and it then does what it just did, and pops up the same message. This can continue forever. So, I decided to try to press "Ok", then immediately enter in "wineboot".

Wine 1.1.7 and 1.0.1 not working on Intrepid 64 bit
I posted this on Ubuntuforums but after reading a bit more it seems this is mostly used for gaming questions so I decided to come here.
I am running 64 bit Ubuntu intrepid (still a beta but a release candidate). I can see Wine in my application menu but when I go to Programs/Acessories/Notepad nothing happens. I am unable to open the configuration nor am I able to uninstall using the Applications

Can't uninstall software
Hello. I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I am trying to reinstall "Sonos Desktop Controller" and can't seem to do so. When I click "Remove" in Add/Remove Programs the screen simply flashes and the program is still there...nothing happens. I've tried removing the directory in "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/..." and the GNOME menu items, but the program still won't

My icecast https stream (https://vertenradio.com:8443/stream) does not work on a Sonos ONE player.
It might have something to do with the ssl handshake.

Preventing Wine from creating shortcuts
Hey, I'm new to the forums but by no means a noob
but it's come to the point lately where I'm creating scripts (bash mixed with autoit) where I create a new bottle, silently install the program and then do any fixes etc in the script making it all completely automated (as i tend to re-install my system a lot)
The issue I'm having though is the shortcuts wine creates

Wine installed - but it's not there
Hey guys,
I just installed the newest Wine version (1.1.24) through the Synaptic Package Manager, but it's nowhere to be found. There is no entry in my "applications" menu, and there's no Wine folder in my home directory.
I'm on 64 bit Jaunty, and I've been having trouble with Wine since I first used it (on Intrepid in March). Through constantly uninstalling and

Problem Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 in Ubuntu
Hello,
I have recently installed Ubuntu (8.10) Intrepid Ibex and I am trying to get
R version 2.8. I have changed my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include a
mirror. I have also added the Vincent Goulet key. However, whenever I run
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install r-base
it installs version 2.71. Given that I am new to Ubuntu, is there
anything that I need to do to make ubuntu get

Kernel oops when running bonnie++ on btrfs
I wanted to see how btrfs compares to other filesystems so I have been
running bonnie++ on it. While the results are good(much faster then
ext2) every once in awhile I get a kernel oops. I am testing on xubuntu
8.10 with the 2.6.27-7-686 kernel using the latest git sources. Most of the
time the oops happens within 20min of running bonnie++ but sometimes it
takes a few hours. This happens with and

I have successfully installed Sonos 2.8 using Ubuntu 9.04 and Wine 1.1.22 on my wireless Dell Inspiron laptop and an old dual boot Dell Dimension desktop. The Sonos Desktop Controller software was installed on the dual boot Unbuntu side as well as the Windows XP Pro side. Software works fine on both machines. Flash Movie Player Control in VB
Hi all,
I just started messing with wine (0.9.54 on Ubuntu 7.04-Feisty) a few weeks
ago and there's some educational software I want to be able to run. It was
made with VB, and I've managed to get it working fairly well except for an
ActiveX control for showing Flash movies (.swf). I think it's unable to
load the swf file because the box where the movie should show is blank, and

[Wiki] Possible error in documentation wineboot

In http://wiki.winehq.org/wineboot the first line says:

There might be

Duplicate column names created by base::merge() when by.x has the same name as a column in y
Hi Frederick,
I would expect that any duplicate names in the resulting data.frame would
have the suffixes appended to them, regardless of whether or not they are
used as the join key. So in my example I would expect "names.x" and
"names.y" to indicate their source data.frame.
While careful reading of the documentation reveals this is not the case, I
would argue the intent of
