Grandstream Quality Survey.... :P
Today class we are going to be talking about the wonderful line of GrandStream products. Or should I say BarbieTone phones? Who else is having MAJOR issues with the grandstream products? How many times have you been told upgrade upgrade upgrade? How many of you have paperweights, granted the phone is light as a feather and couldn't weight papers down in the first place? How about that

Current RHEL fragmentation landscape
I subscribe (pay) for a lot of things personally. Music, Movies, Anti Virus, VPN, Storage, etc. But for my business, I do not want to pay Red Hat, Zimbra, or Google Workspace. Why ? Because the general rule seems to be Oh! You are an individual, we will offer you affordable/free service What! You are a business, we will offer you extremely 'unaffordable' service. Because being a

wine error causing reboot
I recently installed wine onto my system, and have been trying to use it, but it causes the computer to reboot. The terminal tells me that it didn't load "MOZILLA HTM" correctly, and then flashes something quickly about rendering being unable to do something, it doesn't give me time to read it before it sends me back to the login screen. I'm afraid I don't know too

Server recommendation ??
I have a client that already has a "Windows 2003 Server" server in their main office. He wants me to put a new server in a remote office, which is connected via a vpn. The only real connection between the two will be every night to copy all data files to the main server for backup. He has told me to use Linux/Samba or Win2003k whichever I think is best. Now, without a doubt, I

Best IP phone?
Hello! I have finally ordered some Asterisk hardware: the TDM DevKit. However, I want to use VoIP phones (or possibly adapters) for remote users. I would like to get some suggestions on which phones to buy. I'm hoping that some of you with real experience might be able to help me out! Here are the features that are important to me: * While these phones are initially going to be

Change in Shorewall Support
Folks, I can''t keep this up. The demands that my job and my personal life are currently placing on me are such that supporing Shorewall to the extent that I have been doing is just not possible any more. I will continue to be active on the development list and will continue to develop Shorewall if at all possible. I will also continue to read the user''s list and will help

Wireless Mic System
I have used several Shure systems, a few Sennheisers and a few AudioTechnica systems. Do not expect any of these systems, even the highest end, to be anywhere as reliable as a wired mic. As the years went on, I generally moved higher and higher end to try to weed out problems I had with units that were due to design or unit flaws. I've been out of the biz for a few years now (since my kids

POSIX ACLs vs. EA security.NTACLs
This might be more inclusive if I said, Linux Permissions vs POSIX ACLs vs vfs_xattr. I have recently begun to discover the power and flexibility of using POSIX ACLs (by mounting my EXT3/4 filesystems with the acl option). This solved alot of security permissions issues between Samba and Linux groups of users. As I have delved into this deeper and begun using the VFS object, vfs_xattr, things

Re: Wine and WoW Cataclysm Patch 4.0 troubleshooting thread
Ok, after several hours, I installed the nVidia drivers from their own website, and then (this was the bit that took longest) I installed Wine 1.3.28 from the PPA. I had a go at building 1.3.29 from sources, but it complained about not having 32 bit development libraries. I looked around and all I could find was to install wine-deps from the PPA so I figured if I was going to do that, I might as

Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Hi, While running Spore (steam version) on 1.1.42 with a GeForce 8600GT on Arch Linux x86-64, everything worked fine except for occasional DxDllReg.exe crashes. I have since replaced the card with an ATi Radeon HD4800 and the user interface now unbearably flickers, garbles (inflated bits of text and other UI elements appearing randomly) and generally looks far from correct (to the point where I
