I installed wine and went into Configure it and clicked Add Application. I can see the Program Files folder, but when I go into it, all I can see is the Common Files and Internet Explorer folders. Apps that officially support Wine?
http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ is the home page for an app that officially supports Wine; it says "Requires Windows 98/ME/NT/2k/XP/Vista/WINE" Anyone know of other such apps? Do we already have a list of them somewhere? If we don't, maybe we should start one on the wiki page. It would be kind of neat to watch that list grow. - Dan

Wine for Windows Vista?
Hi, I am looking for IE6 to run on Vista - In the URL below, it states that there is a Wine for Windows now - and IE 6 can be installed once you have Wine for Windows. Is this correct info? http://tredosoft.com/IE6_For_Vista_Part_1 I have recently installed Debian on a old Pentium 3 machine, so I may check out Wine on that platform as well. If the hardware can take it. I have I believe 384MB

Question about Wine and windows compatibility
I am trying to find a program that will let me run programs designed for earlier windows (95/98) on Vista 64 bit (specifically Lords of Magic, an old PC game - the patches that make the game playable will not install on a 64 bit Vista OS). I know this is a cross platform sort of program, and was wondering if any of you knew if it would work. Thanks for any help or insight.

Auto mount home share in Vista
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Seems the only way I can get Vista to mount a share when a user logs in is using a netlogon script. My XP clients auto mount the home share on login just fine, but vista won't. Has anyone experience this with vista and if so what did you do to get passed this? I could use a netlogon script to rectify the issue, but since I have XP and vista

Tell me the truth about WINE
I'm an avid gamer, I play all kinds of games and a wide variety of specific titles, be they on the A-list or B-list. How realistic would it be for a person like me to rely solely on WINE for PC gaming? I understand that the pace with which WINE can catch up is relatively quick (a few months), but a few months is still a long time to wait if I'm itching to get started on a new release. I

file.access() on network (mounted) drive on Windows Vista?
Hi, I have a writable and readable file on a small network file system (Cisco NSLU2 Unslung; non-NTFS) that I access via a mounted drive on Windows Vista. My problem could be due to a "funny" file system/server, but here it goes: > pathname <- "Q:/foo.txt" > cat(file=pathname, "Hello world!\n") > readLines(pathname) [1] "Hello world!" >

Can't install program to another drive
I'm planning to remove Windows completely, but before I exercise this option, I want to be sure that I can install/run my needed programs under Linux using Wine. Granted I've been with Windows since the beginning, but after my experience with Vista, I have had enough. So, currently I have a dual boot setup for the moment, using Ubuntu 11.x/ Vista Ultimate (64bit). I have three hard disks,

USB Thumb Drive Confusion
I am running CentOS 4.7. I have a USB flash (thumb) drive that has a bunch of files placed there by Windows. I plugged it into the CentOS machine, and when I listed the files under "/media/usb-name", there was nothing there. I created an empty file: touch blah and it showed up when I did list it. I noticed, checking dmesg that it was attached to /dev/sdb. So I did a quick

Re: The single major remaining Wine complaint everyone makes...
my thought is that the people that are complaining that the buttons and look of programs running in wine are the same ones that allow Microsoft to keep working on their GUI and not focusing on the kernel of their operating systems (anyone remember the talking paperclip in MSoffice?) They're worried about how pretty everythign is and not how it performs. hence the reason that Vista and xp never

Vista, 35 second login delay, domain only.
Hello, I've spent time trying to find an answer to this one, but no luck. The main problem is that when any user logs into Vista with a domain account, there will be ~35 second delay where the system just sits at the welcome screen with the spinning circle. (after typing their password) This happens on Vista sp1, and earlier. Also on Samba 3.0.24, 3.0.28 and 3.2. I'm pretty sure
