Looking for some guidance on an issue
Hey all. I'm looking for some advice on how best to continue
troubleshooting an app. I'm running FC3 with Wine 20041201 and I set
up the config using Winetool. I've got a bunch of apps running with no
problems, including IE6 and Office 2000. However, I'm having a lot of
trouble with one particular app, which I really need; the RSA ACE Server
5.2 Remote Admin console.

games is pretty much in its infancy at this point so I hope to see
that grow in the future. My first question as I looked around was
wondering whether gaming apps that were in there had been checked were
checked in Crossover Games or Crossover Office? Maybe I missed it. I
don't know yet.
Anyway, I am really happy to see a second path for Windows gamers
in Linux. That's not really me

don't think that's such a good idea, and it may even cause problems. That
may or may not have anything to do with the problem you're having, though.

hello the list
Visual Basic compatability/support with wine, are there any tricks to getting applications written in this language working correctly?
Useing a newer version certainly doesn't help, or atleast, not with the app I'm trying to use. 2002.04.11 doesn't even move past displaying the splash screen. 2001.05.10 that I've been using for several apps written in pure C works

Hi All,
Wondering if there is a document that tells how to get wine printing through
a cups printer working? Yes I know the wine docs say it's all magic and if
you're using cups your printing will magically work, but for some reason, it
doesn't, my wine session crashes and burns when I try to print from the
built in notepad (or any other apps I've tried: in particular, Lotus

So here is my concern. If I install a windows program that happens to include SecuROM, where will SecuROM go? Will I get the same kind of system instability in Ubuntu as I did in windows?
I read the FAQ, and the list of WINE Apps, but I couldn't find any information about it beyond that it appears to run Spore and SecuROM.
After my last experience with SecuROM on windows (and current lawsuit

You can try installing Mono but that only works for a fraction (read <1%) of programs so at the moment you are better off finding an alternative program or waiting until .NET is implemented in Wine

application. If I try to open the application and pass it the command "/PAR
script.txt", it does not work:
$ open WinBUGS.exe '/PAR script.txt'
The file /PAR script.txt does not exist.
It parses '/PAR script.txt' as a file name rather than an argument. I tried
the following variation but it results in the same error:
$ open -a WinBUGS14 '/PAR script.txt'

I have tried this. However, it has never worked for me; Wine just completely ignores my environment variable. Japanese Windows apps will NOT

Code:
2.2. Cloning the Wine Git repository
Checking out from the WineHQ Git repository:
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git ~/wine-git
cd ~/wine-git
For older versions of git, or if you are stuck behind a firewall with an uncooperative proxy, you may need to replace git: with http:.
again, RTFM.... there's plenty of howtos on the web....

To launch a Windows exe from a command line, is it "wine <program>" or "wine start <program>"? I've seen both mentioned in the documentation.

two apps questions
I'm new to wine & can't get a direct answer from the faq at winehq.
1) Is there any reason why Coreldraw 9 for windows would not work in
linux with wine installed?
1b) Corel distributes their own wine package. Is it important to use
this instead of what I might think of as the 'standard' wine package I
would get from winehq?
2) Has anyone tried Mathematica 4.1 for

Project "Muncher" the next step in wine
Ok, It's a lame name but it was the best I could come up with after
spinning around in a desk chair for a few minutes. Here is the general
idea behind it.
Once, in an interview, Steve Balmber, the CEO of Microsoft threw some
standard MS FUD out about Linux being a poor choice becaue each distro
tends to "mutate" linux and has no solid direction

config file (or lack thereof) question, turning off ttydrv
I am TRYING to use the most recent release of wine.
Am I correct to assume that there is no longer a .wine/config file?
Am I also correct to assume that all documentation still refers to the
.wine/config file, and gives NO F*CKING help about how to use the new
system?
If these two assumptions are correct, it seems to be a real stupid way to do
things. How is a new user EVER supposed to
