using Frauenhofer mp3 codec
I tried to use the Frauenhofer mp3 codec and I thought I succeeded when removing winemp3 from the registry. But the entry gets created again the next time wine starts.... so how do I use the Frauenhofer codec instead of the winemp3.acm.so. The only way I found till now is by removing/renaming that file. That can't be the right way. So what is the right way to do that? As for why I want

Native mp3 playback winemp3.acm/l3codeca.acm regression?
Two issues. 1. Probable regression in Wine v1.2.2 and 1.2.3 (v 1.2 ok): - ACM / native WMP playback not working. Tried to upgrade to 1.2.3, then 1.2.2 and they both cause the player (1by1) to hang, nothing written to console. Revert back to v1.2 and acm works fine again. 2. Bug in Wine v1.3.x: - ACM / native WMP playback (using libmpg123) elapsed track time advances too quickly (nearly two

mp3 game produces no sound in Wine 1.0
Hello dear all, my windows game plays mp3 sounds. (the game is C-evo) the game runs fine under wine except for mp3 sounds. my platform is Fedora 9-WINE 1.0. The audio test in winecfg works fine. Trying to solve the problem, I"ve installed a mp3 Fraunhofer codec in wine (an exe file) ; problem remains. At linux level I have no mp3 codec installed. Does any one has a clue to such problem ?

Hello everybody, I've got a problem with wine and I couldn't find how to solve it (there are solution on similar problems on Internet but none worked for me): I need to install it but I must patch it before. The Alpha is the server on the local network, and it doesnt have the need for a soundcard. I would like to stream to other computers on the network that do have a soundcard. Why liveice? Why not? Problem playing several different games, swrast_dri
I'm having difficulties getting several different games to run in wine, namely the Japanese version (pre-translation-patch) of Cave Story/Doukutsu Monogatari. I don't think locale is the issue here, since I'm getting the same error no matter if I set up a Japanese locale or not. The backtrace when I try to run wine is: Code: --% wine Doukutsu.exe err:module:load_builtin_dll failed

Quality of vp3.2 codec?
How good is the video compression in vp3.2? For example, how does it compare (bit rate & quality) to mpeg1, mpeg2, Divx, real Video 8+, Windows Media, etc. etc. It being open source is nice and all, but if it can't be reasonably competitive then there isn't much point to it. I just haven't seen anything that compares vp32 to anything else. (Although to be honest, I haven't

Europa Universalis III Complete Steam crash during startup
System: Dell Studio 15, wine 1.2, Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit (GNOME+compiz), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 I have all my favorite games up in wine now except Europa Universalis III.
