weighting nlme in multivariate outcome
Dear R-nlme expert We need two pieces of information about the fitting of a nlme model which we cannot extract from the R help files and would be most grateful if you could help us. We fit an energy allocation growth model with 4 parameters to individual growth curves using the nlme routine. We thus have repeated age and size measurements of individuals and therefore allow for random

nlme weighted
Dear R-expert I'm fitting a non linear model (energy allocation model to individual growth data) using your nlme routine. For each individual I have thus a number of observations (age and size) to which I fit the nonlinear function, with random effects for the individuals on the estimated parameters (individual as the grouping factor). The sampling of these individuals was stratified (size

Problems with sqlserver 2000 and ActiveRecord
Hi, I''m getting some trouble in connecting to a sql server 2000 database with ActiveRecord-2.0.1 and ruby 186-26, from win XP. Using the next conenction config: ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection( :adapter => "sqlserver", :database => "nombre_bd", :username => "usu", :password => "contra" ) I have the next error:

set off error messages
Hello there! I'm creacting a loop for(i in 1:n){...}within which I build a nls model at each iteration. for some of the values of i, the algoritm in the nls function doesn't converge or cannot find a solution and consequently an error message is produced, and so my loop is interupted. The errors don't really matter to me as all the other values might still be useful and therefore I

Were to find appropriate functions for a given task in R
This is a generic request concerning were to look for finding appropriate information on a precise procedure in R. I’m using R for teaching introductory statistics and my students are learning how to deal with it. However, I find it difficult to locate some of the procedures. For instance, for basic crosstabulation, it is obvious that basic functions as table, ftable, and prop.table can be used.

A question on plot
I’m trying to obtain a plot of given function, say the density of a normal, in which I could indicate the area under the curve between two points (a,b). I.e. the P(a<X<b). Could anyone indicate me which is the instruction for obtain such a shadow area under a curve? I guess the solution is not difficult, but I can not find the procedure. openssh-SNAP-20001016
Using openssh-SNAP-20001016 all of our problems with hanging connections have gone away (woohoo!), and it seems to be working flawlessly, but I am seeing messages like this in syslog: Oct 24 16:57:48 dhumb301 sshd[17752]: error: channel 0: internal error: we do not read, but chan_read_failed for istate 8 Oct 24 16:57:59 dhumb301 sshd[17771]: error: select: Bad file descriptor Oct 24 16:58:30

Is there a bug in CrossTable (gmodels)
Library gmodels include a function CrossTable that is useful for crosstabulation. In the help, it is indicated that one can call this function as CrossTable(data), were data is a matrix. However, when I try to use this option, it doesn't help. Any idea? Is there a bug? Thanks for your help. generating lognormal variables with given correlation
Dear R users I use simulated data to evaluate a model by sampling the parameters in my model from lognormal distributions. I would like these (lognormal distributed) parameters to be correlated, that is, I would like to have pairwise samples of 2 parameters with a given correlation coefficient. I have seen that a covariance matrix can be fixed when generating random variables from a

Unir municipios

Rebuilding samba3x rpms results in size doubled
Hi, I have rebuilt samba3x SRPM in Centos 5.5. The resultings RPM's are nearly in triple size of the original RPMs. I have installed and checked the binary files are stripped. What can result in such difference in RPM sizes? I have not changed anything on built and install sections of spec file. Switch to AIO instead of IO/parallize fs scan...
I was thinking about [Bug 3099]... in that while it's easy to get a 2-3x speed for the average app using parallel scans, the upper and lower bounds on that speed increase could be <1x in a worst case (very unlikely, but with primitive or constrained (in a container or VM) HW, the chances are raised. Better, with less std. deviation, I believe, might be to move I/O calls to all being AIO
