Tomb Raider - Underworld (anyone got it working?)
Well the subject says it all really, it was a great shame since the last two tomb raider games worked perfectly, after installing 'Underworld', some months back, I found it did not work. After spending the last few months waiting, it seems to have improved with the latest version of WINE. In the latest WINE, if the camera is very close to Lara, the picture magically appears (with some

Re: Any Game is not working in wine. Why?
I "own" a Steam version of Tomb Raider Anniversary here and it works fine. For Underworld I need a little patch which I found somewhere in the wine bug-tracker (the mouse cursor is still a bit slow in the menu but the game itself is good playable). Here are my patches: http://ww.mxchange.org/downloads/wine/patches/ I need them on my 64-bit system to make it compile against ia32 libs

summing values by group
At the risk of being wacked for asking what should be obvious.... I have a data frame with one categorical variable "CAT" and several numeric variables. I want to be able to get simple statistics on the numeric variables by level. For example, just as you can use table (CAT) to get the counts, I'd like to be able to get the means and sums by category. If someone could point me

Fedora 10 - update killed text input to Wine
This weekend I built a new machine running Fedora 10, its software was up to date as of Saturday morning (I think, maybe Friday evening). I installed Wine with "yum" (version 1.1.14). I managed to get Diablo 2 LOD installed and working (flawlessly!). I was happily playing this afternoon, then exited the game and ran "yum update". After the update text input did not work (the

Vertex shader support
Hello- I'm just curious as to the status of vertex shader support in Direct X8 via Wine (d3d8.dll)... I'm using WinAmp through Wine and it works great, however some plugins won't work (Milkdrop in particular doesnt, however Geiss does thankfully). I've seen some info that vertex shading support is still being worked on - just trying to verify that and if anyone else has any

Team Fortress 2: Hardware must support Pixel Shader 1.1
Hello! I just installed TF2 and Steam through WINE. However, once I started it, it said my hardware must support at least Pixel Shader 1.1 to run the game. I looked up my Gfx card online, and the specs say my card supports Pixel shader 1.4. The requirements on the box say I need a card that supports Direct X 8. This shouldn't be a problem, because I've used both 8 and 9 on Windows. Is this

Fake Directx hardware pixel shader

Switch for pixel shader?
I haven't owned windoze in a few years and decided to dust off a few old favourite games namely Oblivion and GTA San Andreas For Oblivion I need to turn on pixel shaders in the winecfg app When playing GTA I have to turn the pixel shaders off because it runs very slowly Is there something I could run in a script before executing each game (in the same script) which would either turn pixel

3DMark06 doesn't detect Pixel Shader 2.0
When trying to run 3DMark06, it doesn't detect at least Pixel Shader 2.0, and therefore refuses to run any tests. I've tried with and without UseGLSL = enabled in the registry, and Pixel Shaders are turned on. Pixel shaders and vertex shaders are both detected as 3.0 by other apps, such as the Call of Duty 2.0 start up process. 3DMark03 has a Pixel Shader 2.0. test, which it detects and

WoW - fix pixel shader flicker
I just did a fresh install of Wine (1.3.1) and World of Warcraft. The WoW in-game options interface has changed since the last time I needed to messed with settings and there is no longer a box to disable shadows/pixel shading. It is now a slider that can be moved to low but not turned off. This was causing an odd flickering of objects (walls, trees, etc.) where they would go back and forth

Question about winecfg/pixel shader for some games
I currently have CNC3, GTA:SA, COD4 working real good in Wine (amazing AppDB pages!!) but what I'm wondering is: For GTA:SA I have to go to winecfg > Graphics > uncheck Allow Pixel Shader to make the game playable. Yet, if I want to run COD4 or CNC3, neither will start without the pixel shader option checked. Instead of having to go into winecfg everytime to change it in between games
