Where to install DirectX 9.0c Nov,2008?
I DLed DirectX 9.0C redistributable and ran it with Wine. I didn't know it would want to know the directory to install to. Its obviously going to be in Wine's drive_c folder, but beyond that I have no idea. I was having some trouble with Winetricks installer so i thought manually would be easier. Anyone know where to install these files?

White cube in dx 3d tests
Hi, I just installed DirectX 9.0c on latest Wine according to howto I found here on wine sites. Well the problem is, that in dxdiag 3D tests it shows just very fast spinning (that should be, shouldn't it?) cube, but with no DirectX texture on it, just a white cube. I have nVidia 8400MG. It's working 'cause in Windows I play normally with DX 9 installed. My distro is ArchLinux. Thx

New game "Das schwarze Auge: Drakensang"
Hello Wine Users, I am thinking about buying the game "Das schwarze Auge: Drakensang" (German homepage (http://www.dsa-game.de/), English homepage (http://www.drakensang.info/)). But I will only do it if I am able to play it under Linux. Does someone have the game already and tried to get it running with Wine? Regards, Benjamin

ATI driver needed to run D3D games?
Hello, I'm quite new in Wine and haven't been able tu run any games. The last two games tested are installing fine but when I tried to launch them I have a message saying that graphic device is below our min specs. My graphic card is ATI V5250 Mobility and because I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 i can't install ATI proprietary drivers which are not supported anymore with xorg 1.6. So my

Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
Hi Folks, I have been using Wine for some time now to run Team Fortress 2 (and other HL2 based games) on my Ubuntu system. I was previously running Ubuntu 7.10 with an Athlon64 3800+, a 7600GT (256MB of RAM), and 2GB of DDR2 333MHz. Recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 (i386) with an AthlonX2 64 6000+, an 8800GT (1GB of RAM) and 4GB of DDR 800MHz. I was really hoping for a nice performance bump

Re: Call for volunteers
Austin - another quick question: I've tested a few bugs using the latest compiled fresh from git (wine-1.1.23-273-gc293285) but then began wondering if I should be using the latest beta instead - 1.1.23? I'm also confused if I'm doing something wrong because I tried to install directx 9.0c to test dxdiag and after extracting I ran wine dxsetup.exe. That failed with these errors and

Problems running the game GUN from Neversoft.
Hello! I have installed Wine 0.9.55 (pretty sure of that) on my Mandriva 2008. I tried to install the game GUN from Neversoft. (It works fine on windows Vista). On the distribution it says that it is compatible on Windows 2000 and XP. But when I try to install it it seems to work, but when I try to run it I get an error in a popup. Right now I'm at office and do not exactly remember the

Memory problems/questions
I have noticed that many games (Farcry 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Drakensang) crash with some form of out of memory messages. So obviously something is leaking memory (whether it is wine or the game or drivers, I cannot say). But it always happens as soon as wine uses ~1.5 GB of RAM. Also I wonder if it has something to do with this bug: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25428 I ran

WINE and older games
I know that there is always the push for the latest and greatest games to be working under WINE, but it's always been a little irritating to me, that as the owner of systems that tend to not be up to par to playing the latest and greatest, that older DirectX 7 and below games really don't feel like they've been giving the TLC that they may deserve. I've been an ongoing quest for

Trouble with directx games on wine-1.2 64 bit
Ever since the RCs and the release of 1.2, I have been having trouble with directx based games not working properly. They did work under wine-1.1.3x. The problems are: video very slow and jerky, about 1 fps, objects appearing as "tears" on the screen, missing some textures, and screen going blank during certain effects. System: 64-bit kubuntu-10.04, dual NVIDIA 9800GT w/ 512 mb, plenty

Games: Grand Theft Auto 2 / DirectX 6.1 support?
Hi all, I've checked the archives and can't find anything regarding the above so here goes: Has anyone had any luck getting GTA2 or other games that require DirectX 6.1 support working under Wine so far? I used to keep a Win95 partition on my machine specifically for this game, but recently my second disk died and I need the space for my Linux installation. Any help appreciated.

GGPO
Hi all, I'm pretty much a novice at getting apps working under wine, but I've been trying to get GGPO (http://ggpo.net/blog/online/) working. GGPO is basically an online fighting game client. It requires .NET runtime 2.0, and the latest DirectX, so it's not trivial to set up. I've installed .Net 2.0 and DirectX 9.0c successfully after a little black magic and following of

The Rise Of Nations: Rise Of Legends, runs normally.... But when I'm going to put the serial number a window open calling for the PID GENERATOR... I check it and the pidgen.dll is Ok........

Wow says no DirectX
Wine 1.3.37 After patching, tried to start Wow with Wow.exe. Got a dialog box that says I need the latest DirectX Runtime. I have 'winecfg' set to XP and Blizzard says that means ver. 9.0c, which, I read somewhere, is what Wine has completed and uses by default. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I may have. What now?
