Strange keyboard behaviour in WoW
Hello Guys, Like many, I would like to switch completely to Linux, and be able to play WoW. The problem I'm encountering is that one of the keys I use the most e.g. [?] is behaving stangely : I can use it perfectly in chat section, but it doesn't do anything outside it, so that I am unable to get it cast anything. I use a very standard swiss keyboard, "standardly connected"

Problem with foreign-language keyboard
I am testing Xen on a Centos5 machine. On this machine, the locale is en_US.UTF-8 and the keyboard is Sweden. Everything works fine. I have created a guest operating system (I'm using vmware terminology, as I am still confused about DomU and Dom0). The guest is also Centos5. According to the configuration files, the locale on the guest is also en_US.UTF-8 and the keyboard Sweden. However,

keyboard problem
OK, I know what I'm doing is "officially unsupported", but perhaps someone has some suggestions... I have a CentOS 5.6 system running as a virtual machine using VMware player. I cloned the system, booted the clone to make sure everything worked after cloning, it did. I then booted off a CentOS 6 ISO and did an upgrade (I know, unsupported!). I've got the system to the

gdm in 6.2 missing keyboard menu?
I have a box running 6.0 that gives a keyboard layout menu via gdm when logging in. I've just installed a 6.2 box, but there is no keyboard layout menu I've found a bugzilla entry at: <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=746923> which says that with gdm in 6.2, it now only shows keyboard layouts listed in /etc/sysconfig/keyboard However, I've added a list of

What might affect keyboard input in a game under Wine?
Hi everyone - and I apologize in advance for the vagueness on this one. I recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit (fresh install). One game that I normally submit test data for has suddenly lost the ability to type. I can no longer enter a userid or password on it's login screen. (I was able to do this in 11.04 64-bit with Wine 1.3.29.) The only keys that are responsive now are the return and

Logitech G11 keyboard under wine
Hello, I have a logitech G11 keyboard which has some extra keys - about 21 extra keys. Under Linux with the use of g15daemon and using the 'logitech_g15' XkbModel, all keys are working and can be mapped to keyboard shortcuts under gnome for example. Pressing the key G2 under xev outputs the following: keycode 152 (keysym 0x1008ff45, XF86Launch5) Unfortunatelly under wine the

How do I switch the keyboard layout?
Hello there. I'm trying to switch the keyboard layout for a wine application to a nonsystem standard. Background: system standard is dvorak, but that horribly conflicts with the AWSD movement control of games. Stuff I tried and failed: * switching the layout in the GNOME panel keyboard layout switcher * rewriting the xorg.conf for english as standard language * loading us layout with loadkey

Keyboard layout switching bug: workaround?
Hi, I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France). I've been 100% GNU/Linux for the past five years, and I recently switched from Slackware to CentOS, for the sake of comfort. Overall impression: I like it! I have a few problems to solve yet in my migration effort, mostly minor annoyances. First things first. I need three different keyboard layouts: de, fr_CH and fr. I'm

CentOS 7 on Macbook Pro : keyboard mapping problem
Hi, Some time ago I installed CentOS 7 on an older MacBook Pro for a client, since she couldn't install a more recent version of Mac OS X on it. The installation was a bit of an adventure, and I wrote a little article about it: https://blog.microlinux.fr/centos-7-macbook-pro/ I made this installation about a year ago, and the only thing I changed since then is replacing Xfce by GNOME. CentOS 7 + KDE - default keyboard layout?
Hi, I'm currently fiddling with CentOS 7 and KDE 4.14, and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. This is one of the cleanest implementations of KDE I've ever seen, and with some tweaking (a lot, in fact) this can be turned into a highly functional desktop with all the bling and bells and whistles. But right now, I have some minor problems to solve. First things first. My system is

CentOS 7.6 1810 vs. VirtualBox : bug with keyboard layout selection
Hi, I'm currently working on my next Linux book, which will be an elementary course about CentOS administration. I'm using VirtualBox for all the installer screenshots. Since CentOS has recently been upgraded to version 7.6, I thought I might as well base all book references on this version. So I downloaded the 7.6 1810 minimal ISO and started a fresh installation in VirtualBox. I'm

way to disable keyboard and mouse ports
Is there a way to disable the keyboard and mouse ports? I have a machine in a public area running an application that no-one needs to touch. However, someone could come up and plug a keyboard in it and mouse and be logged in as that user (not root). Is there a way to disable the mouse and keyboard so only remote ssh connections will control the PC if changes need to be made. This would also

Dune 2000 - no keyboard response - good rendering speed
Hi, I've installed Dune 2000 and the 1.06 patch in Wine, and it runs very well, except that it doesn't accept keyboard input. It wasn't any better without the patch. The entry at the appdb doesn't mention anything about it. Does anybody know how to fix it? I've already tried changing all the settings on the "graphics" tab in "winecfg". Half-Life, for
