Font confusion
In my attempts to get Fractal Mapper (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3117) to work I am a bit confused about the behaviour of text and fonts. The application's documentation says you should be able to use any TrueType fonts. I see a menu with the fonts I have on the system. If I select one of them and enter some text I see the text as I enter it, but when I finish it disappears.

USB support in wine for TDK CD/DVD Print Labeller
Hi Does anybody know whether wine works with USB ports or not ? The reason I ask is that I'm trying to get the application TDK CD/DVD Printer Labeller Software running, the software appears to work except for the fact it complains that "The printer is turned off or not connected to the computer". http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3751 Is there some other layer of

Failure with Top50 Geogrid Viewer
Hi, I've been successfully using Geogrid viewer version 3.2 with wine 0.9.9 and a hack to let the CoRegisterPSClsid() stub return S_OK on Suse 9.3. However, after an upgrade to Suse 10.1 the application failed to open the main window. 0.9.10 showed the same behaviour. Later versions of wine (I tried 0.9.11 onwards to current cvs) open the main window again, however when I try to scroll

Warhammer 40k
According to the appdb (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=1918), Warhammer 40k should work almost flawlessy, however I am unable to even get the game to run. I'n installed the game on a Windows laptop (that's not up to running the game) and copied that across. When I try and run it, the game either complains that there is no cd in the drive, or that I must insert the origional

Debugging a new app ?
Hello I'm new to wine-users. I'had often used wine with known-working apps, but now I try to launch Future Pinball (a pinball simulation), see http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=4596. As it's not work, I search docs on how to debug an app. My first try is to check that all dll requierd is present in wine (or I'll try to add them): I've profiling it on windows xp with

Serial port problem - again
Hello. I'm new to this list. After days of reading docs and googling I can say that a lot of people is trying to use wine with serial ports, but no success story found? My problem is just like in bug1244 <http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1244> which is almost 4 years old. If I run this app <http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=4165> with WINEDEBUG=+relay , I

Any chess players here?
The Internet Chess Club, launched a new chess interface in August. Besides being a terrific client for connecting and playing chess on ICC, it has a built-in chess engine with 14 personalities from beginner to GM's that you can play off-line. You can also add-in other chess engines. If you try it, I'm sure you'll agree it is one of the best chess clients available. It is now at

keeping pwds synced with Windows
If you do much business on the Internet, as I do, you probably use a password manager to manage dozens or even hundreds of passwords. And if you are often switching between Windows and Unix like me, you may have the same problem. I had a devil of a time keeping my password databases synced in the two different worlds. Enter Password Safe for Windows. And thanks to Wine, for Unix' boxen

an application fails to work with wine 0.9.30
Hello, I'm using fink unstable (from CVS) on an Intel Mac. An application (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3042) which worked OK on linux (when I still had it) and which worked OK until I updated the wine with fink, fails to work now, but is pretty important for me. This shows me:

Cashflow 101 crashes if WINEDEBUG=+all not set. (Slackware 11/Wine 0.9.38)
Hello! I'm not sure if I should have posted this to wine-devel or add bug in Bugzilla, so I'm posting this here. I've got following problem: I've upgraded Wine to 0.9.38, and Kiyosaki's Cashflow 101(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=2216) stopped working. Game crashes "in windows way" - with a Message box "Unhandled Exception: c0000005 At address:

Tony, et. all, Hi. Happy Holidays. I'm still struggling along with getting Wine to really run on an important audio machine. Setting custom parameters for wine-programs
Hi list, Trying to set custom paramters for a wine-program as wcmd for example doesn't work for me. I tried setting [AppDefaults\\wcmd.exe.so\\x11drv] "Desktop"= "N" and [AppDefaults\\wcmd.exe\\x11drv] "Desktop"= "N" when global is "Desktop"="640x480". wcmd is displayed on a 640x480 desktop. Is there a workaround ?

"Module not found"
I'm trying to run a program called GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) under Wine. Most of it runs, however, as part of its normal operation it creates a batch file, BABEL.BAT, to communicate with a GPS using GPSBabel. I've run GPSBabel by itself under wine and it works. I've run the batchfile by hand and *THAT* works (under wcmd). However, I've since discovered that when GSAK

wcmd crashes all the time on the set command.
Below is a crash I get on my gentoo box when I execute the set command in wcmd. I believe the problem is caused by wine using the entire enviornment from my linux machine: john@jmd0 ~ $ wcmd WCMD Version 0.17 W:\home\john>set ALLUSERPROFILE=c:\windows\Profiles\Administrator ALLUSERSPROFILE=c:\windows\Profiles\Administrator ANT_HOME=/usr/share/ant-core CLASSPATH=. Running DOS program in a cron job
Hi, I'm trying to run a DOS program within a cron job. After much trial-and-error I settled on the following approach: - rm -r ~/.wine - call wine without any arguments, this lets wine generate a default configuration in ~/.wine - change ~/.wine/config: set GraphicsDriver to ttydrv instead of x11drv - the cron job consists of a shell script that runs the DOS program with "wcmd

IMAPD fix for RH
You probably know this already, but the following notice appeared to bugtraq. As a side note the protocol on bugtraq seems to be designed to make a fix available before the announcement by providing one yourself or giving the maintainer a week's advance warning (M$ gets a lot longer warning and *still* fails to fix the bugs before bugtraq knows). Having said that M$ insists on allowing me
