I am using the version of wine that came with RedHat 7.2. I just noticed that Codeweavers has their own distribution of wine that includes what looks like a convenient setup configuration utility. What are the pros and cons of uninstalling what I got from RedHat and downloading and installing the rpm from Codeweavers? Thanks

I am trying to install the Codeweavers version of wine (pre-release 2) and I am having problems. When I try to install (using rpm), I get the message "installing package codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 needs 7Mb on the / filesystem". My / filesystem is not overly large, but I still have approx 60Mb available on /. Is the error stating that the install requires 7Mb on /, or it needs 7Mb more

codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 hung during install (rpm) at the creation of KDE/Gnome menus; since I don't use either, I thought, no prob and ran winesetup from Blackbox. I skipped re-making the links on starting winesetup and went right for the configuration. which also failed. is there a difference between versions on the winehq site and the codeweavers aside from codeweaver's easy installation code? ie. will one version tend to run more programs than the other? -- JT
