Hello
Hello
New user of Mandriva, I have been directed to Wine for gaming compatibility.
So here is my question : is there a list of game working through Wine ?
I was used to play LOTR (Lord of the Ring) and POTCO (Pirates of the Caraibes) with my window interface and I would like to remove XP and just keep Mandriva.
THank you

Questions about setup
I have worked in IT for several years and programming or anything related to
this is not exactly one of my strengths. I need help creating a vesamenu..
Im trying to setup up so I can access my Acronis backup and disaster
recovery 10 server, knoppix live cd, hardware diagnostics - pcdoctor and
maybe a hiren type boot cd. I checked the Linux irc channel which I guess is
now abandoned. If anyone

Mail filters in incoming message
With my iMap client, I use various mail rules to move specific email to
the right mail folders. Downside of that is that is this mailclient is
not online, all email is stuck in my inbox, which makes reading email by
mobile phone kind of chaotic.
I have seen several Pigeonhole Sieve examples, but I would like to know
if there is a nub solution (I am not a programmer) to run filters when

Windows: Forcing a Guest Login.
This issue comes up time and time again on the mailing list and
internet. I have yet to see a single answer. How do you get windows
to access a share with as a guest?
The situation is pretty simple:
- A samba share exists for which there are guest logins available
However this share is inaccessible to windows users because:
- Windows by default tries to login to a share with its current

How to make Chinese characters to display in wine?
I use FreeBSD.
Windows Firefox shows Chinese fine.
But some simple windows programs just show black boxes instead.
Is there a documentation anywhere explaining how to make Chinese fonts work?

Winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and Flash 8
The program winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience.
I'm running Macromedia Flash 8 when this error occurs.
I'm also unable to run the "Uninstall Wine Software" program.
When I click it, nothing happens.
This happens with wine 1.1.22 and 1.1.23.
Any ideas?
Thx!

Unable to rename Macromedia icons using kde menu editor
I'm unable to edit the file names for about three Macromedia programs using the kde menu editor.
When using the editor it says the program titles have been renamed but once I leave the editor the name is unedited again. I also can't change the icons for these programs.

samba failover plan on unix OS using hardware RAID
Hi all,
I've been asked to produce a plan for samba failover for an office with
about 30 2000/XP machines and a few unix servers. We currently have a
FreeBSD single-harddrive SCSI box providing samba, dhcp and dns services.
Reliability and cost are the priorities, in that order, over
speed/performance. We just need the reliability - we don't ever ever want to
have to switch to a new pdc.

dtrace predicat
Hi,
I''m a nub in dtrace, could you please help me to find the mistake?
I need to implement the logic:
- if PID and TID are defined, fire the probe for the particular thread of particular process;
- if only PID is defined, fire the probe for the process including all threads.
The predicat syscall:::entry / (pid == PID && tid == TID ) / works ok and return syscall for

Firefox problems
Since upgrading to FireFox 1.0.2 I have noticed a large number of
problems connecting to web sites that are reached without
difficulty using MS-IE 6. The symptom is a message box that
declares that the "The Document Contains No Data" which, ironically
enough, is the very error I get when trying to reach

Apache and TCP Wrappers
I'm trying to lock down Apache and SSH by using TCP Wrappers.
I put /etc/hosts.allow to be
httpd: IP#1 IP#2 127.0.0.1
sshd: IP#1 IP#2 127.0.0.1
and hosts.deny
ALL: ALL
This seems to work great for ssh, and not at all for httpd. Does anyone
know why this would be?
thanks

Grandstream BudgeTone 102 initial experiences
Just to toss in my very limited experiences with the Grandstream phone--
I haven't tested it enough to really know nor is my Asterisk
config set up enough to fully try all the features.
Mostly, it just works. It was very easy to configure and
get running. I've been toting it around to clients as a
show and tell exhibit and it has helped get people excited
about the possibilities.

yum & proxy
Hi,
I've just installed a server with CentOS 4.
This server is behind a proxy.
I'm trying to import the RPM key.
Already set http_proxy variable to:
export "http_proxy"=http://proxy.xpto.com:3128
Truth is, command
# rpm --import http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-4
just leaves me hanged.
Any ideas ?
Warm Regards,

Summary of Characters vectors, NA's and "" in merges
Thanks to Brian Ripley, Gregory Warnes, and Dennis Murphy for considering my
problem about "NA" in character strings. The nub of the issue seems to be that
you can not have a string with "NA" in it in a character vector in R without it
being intrepreted as meaning NA (i.e., not available). The only work-arounds
involve renames of various sorts.
Perhaps this is more appropriate

CentOS and HP Drivers
I am debating installing CentOS on a new HP DL580 with an MSA1000 SAN.
HP offers drivers that are specific to RHEL and will not install on
other RH distros i.e. RH 9.
Has anyone gotten the HP SupportPack to install under CentOS?
Thanks!

Wineserver is not shooting down
First - Wine is great. I love it totally.
To login into a company website I have to use IE6 - Firefox is not handling the Web Site due to some reglementations.
IE6 runs fine and there are NO problems. Only after exit, the Wineserver keeps running and takes away a lot CPU Power. I can stop it manually (System Monitor -> Process. Right Click and I can stop it (and it relieves the Power from the
