How Can I Install Foxit In Wine (Ubuntu)?
When I try to install Foxit Reader in Wine in ubuntu 8.04, the installation window appears for 4 seconds then completely disappears. It doeesn't install at all. I have the latest Wine version, FYI. And, I know there are people out there who have successfully installed foxit. How can I properly install Foxit without any installation problems?

Uninstalling/removing MS Office 2000 premium on WIne
Hi, I am new to Linux, I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy. I have installed Wine 1.0 and used it to install some Windows applications and it has worked successfully. Unwanted Workgroup Names on WINS
Hello,
There are many workgroup names on Microsoft Windows Network. Sometimes,
users could wrong type the workgroups name on self computers, and
creating new record on WINS server. I don't want showing the unwanted
names to end users. Only two workgroups must be showed. Is it possible
that I could clean unnecessary names?

Unwanted MySQL logging
Hello,
I'm running samba 3.0.10 as a PDC with users stored in MySQL on FreeBSD
5.3. And it works great. But i have one litte hickup.
My samba logs are getting flooded with entries like this on:
"Connecting to database server, host: localhost, user: XXX, password:
XXX, database: auth, port: 3306"
Containing the actual mysql username/password, it logs this everytime

Dear useRs,
When I'm using Hmisc's latex() function with ctable=TRUE on a summary.formula with method="reverse" object and saving in a .tex file, the latter contains an unwanted empty line which makes compilation fail.

cleanse columns and unwanted rows
hello folks,
Im trying to clean out a large file with data i dont need.
The column im manipulating in the file is called "legal_status"
There are three kinds of rows i want to remove. Those that have "Private",
"Private (Op", or "Unknown" in the legal_status column.
I wrote this code but i get errors and it says im missing a TRUE/ False

I have toyed with this for too long today and in the past i used multiple
lines of code to get at what i want. Consider the following:
All i need to do is subset Pc to the values that do not equal Pc.X. The
first attempt doesnt work because i have unequal lengths. The second

I would expect the following:

as.character( cat( rep( ".", 2 ) ) ),
"a string",
as.character( cat( rep( ".", 3 ) ) )
);
to yield this string: ". . a string . . .", but instead it yields this:

The third argument has been stuck immediately after the first. The same
thing happens with cat() or c().

Unwanted "Printers" directory
Had to upgrade to Samba 2.2.8 in order to incororate Samba with new CUPS
1.1.19 software. All runs fine, but now have an unwanted "Printers"
directory in my user's Samba window. I've removed all shares listed in
SWAT, including the "Printers" share, but the directory is somehow still
being generated by Samba. Is there any way to cause Samba to either

Mint KDE 9: Wine problem with MS Office
Hi,
I have the following problems with Wine on Mint 9 KDE:
1.- When I want to install MS Office 2003 from CD, I execute the "Uninstall programs" utility of Wine, and the CD Unit cannot be detected; it happens even when I run the Wine config to detect the CD device, it finds it but when going back to Install programs, the drive letter is not there.

I need to convert a dataframe to a record-structure, to be able to encode it
later in JSON. Suppose this is the data:

I would like to convert this to a unnamed list (json array) of key-value

Unwanted carriage returns storing dataframes with dbWriteTable
If I save a dataframe with a character-typed last column to a relational
database with dbWriteTable, the values in the last column of the
resulting table in the database will have a '\r' (carriage return)
appended. If I read back the dataframe with dbReadTable the last column
in the resulting dataframe has also '\r' appended (see protocol below).
