Quickbooks Pro 2001
I moved a Quickbooks Pro file to our Samba server (v 2.0.7) during an effort to centralize some stuff in our organization. Before moving the file to the samba server it was shared from a users NT Workstation. I don't consider this a viable long term solution. Anyway ... here it goes with my problem report .... :-) So I moved the Quickbooks file to the Samba server, setup an Accounting share

Finding DLL's
I've searched the web pages, docs and archives but I can't find the answer to my question. How does wine locate dll's for a native windows application? Specifically, I'm trying to get QuickBooks Pro to run and it can't find IPROF32.dll eventhough it is in the same directory as the .exe and that directory is in the path. Can somebody point me to the proper docs or

Quickbooks Pro works on Corel Wine
Quickbooks Pro works Purrrrrfectly on Corel Wine. It looks good, works good and prints good. The only caveat is that when it is running, you cannot launch Wordperfect as well - it is an either or situation. Cheers, Herman http://www.AerospaceSoftware.com Aerospace Software Ltd. JUST A COUPLE OF NUBBY QUESTIONS BETWEEN ME AND FREEDOM
1. What does ~ mean? cd ie. "~/.wine/drive_c/" 2. Steam runs. Hurray. But I can't chat with friends. I can see their messages, but not mine. I assume they never get them because they never say anything more. 3. I launch TF2, I get the valve logo, source logo, then BAM back to desktop. No error boxes. And my screen resolution stays "minimized" to what tf2 was

Problems installing Quickbooks Pro 99 under Wine
I'm running Gentoo linux and Wine 20031016 installed from a Gentoo ebuild. I'm trying to install and run Quickbooks Pro 99. Wine has created a ~/.wine directory for me with a collection of files therein which appear to be the proper ones. I have mounted the QB99 install CD on /mnt/cdrom and cd'd to that directory and run autorun.exe under wine. A warning dialog pops up almost right

[LLVMdev] LLVM ARM for shipped products?
I have been following the recent posts regarding LLVM ARM backend on the list. I am trying to figure out if I should start using LLVM to compile my project or if I should just stick with cross compilers like those provided by Code Sourcery and wait till a later time. I have the following questions in this regard: 1. Can some one tell me if LLVM ARM is being used by anyone to compile any shipped

Quickbooks and Samba and Oplocks... OH MY
It is widely known that Quickbooks has a horrible storage engine, "requires" Windows to host multiuser access, etc. However, I've successfully been storing QuickBooks files on Samba shares at a handful of locations with no real issues other than slight performance degradation. However, a somewhat recent thread here mentioned the proper use of oplock'ing in the Samba configuration

Debian Sarge (testing), Samba 3.0 RC4 and Quickbooks
Debian and Samba Teams: I'm having a really weird problem with Samba 3.0Beta2+RC4 on my Debian Sarge (testing) system with Quickbooks Pro 2002 multi-user version. The version of my question is: Does anybody know what the proper global, share, and permissions settings should be to support multi-user Quickbooks on a Samba share? The Long Version: The Quickbooks data-file resides on it's

Simply i'm pointing out that disabling 'winbind enum' can lead to some 'glitches', mostnotably 'getent passwd' return no domin users (by design) and

oplocks, QuickBooks (Samba 3)
Hi there, Can somebody please explain to me why Samba 3 requires 'oplocks = no' on shares for programs like Quickbooks to operate properly with multiple users, where Samba 2 didn't? Without this option, Quickbooks will complain about file corruption when a second user tries to open a file. This option, however, makes the particular share that the option is present in _very_ slow

Quickbooks revisited
I did testing on generating this report from a 130 MB Quickbooks file. Locally, 15 seconds. Samba Server, 1:35. Shared off of my win98 Workstation, 2+ mins. I do not understand the reason it is SOO slow. I know it is a fairly large file. The only explanation I can come up with is the way QuickBooks is accessing the files. Maybe jumping all around the file, requiring many operations on the
