OSS Devices
I recently switched to OSS from alsa (loving it so far!), but one of the biggest problems I had to work through before was getting my usb microphone to work with Ventrilo. Before, I used these registry options: [Software\\Wine\\Alsa Driver] "AutoScanCards"="N" "DeviceCount"="2" "DevicePCM1"="default"

No Sound Over nVidia HDMI
I've never had any issues with Wine and audio up until now. The machine is a HTPC which is connected to a TV via HDMI. Audio works perfectly in everything without changing any additional settings, but in Wine it just refuses to work. This machine has no other sound devices other than the HDMI audio output, the onboard audio is disabled. Initially I just got the ALSA message about no master

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine? -- Sincerely, MacNean C. Tyrrell

mp3 plugin for Rythmbox or Totem?
Can anybody please suggest a suitable plugin to enable playing of mp3 files with either Totem or Rythmbox. Both of these come as part of the CentOS 5 package, but strangely neither has the necessary plugin for mp3, which surely is a common enough format in the music world? Thanks, Andy

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi, I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI). No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio. Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. Re: BlueTooth Headset
Has anyone figured this out yet? I too am able to get audio to play through my stereo bluetooth headset in Amarok - and I can even get my headset to be the default output device as suggested above, however, wine still will not play audio through the headset. I was hoping to be able to use voice over the headset too for gaming, but I'm starting to lose hope...

Bluetooth headset in handsfree modewith SJPhoneorX-lite
I am able to pickup, hangup, and flash, using the buttons on the phone with all of the soft clients and both of the headsets I mentioned below. I don't believe I had to change anything on the client side, just had to get the ctp (cordless telephone profile) working in the bluetooth stack, which was a pita. I struggled with the same issue...I could use the headset, but that's not very handy

Bluetooth headset in handsfree modewith SJPhoneor X-lite
Hi, You need to have completely replaced the Microsoft driver, because it doesn't support the headset or ctp Bluetooth profiles. This gave me fits! I followed the instructions at http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/pub/a/windows/2005/07/05/bluetooth.html and it works with both a Plantronics and a Motorola Headset, and I can answer calls with idefisk, eyebeam, x-lite, and kapanga. (gpu = evga 8600 gts 256mb) Wine versions 1.2 and up all have my issue When I run Steam games windowed or fullscreened, they run amazing. Until I get a skype/pidgin/rythmbox/email notification popup, at which point the steam app drops dramatically in performance. (1 different frame every 10
