I think I messed up DirectDraw.
I tried to run a demo of Hype: The time quest (Windows 95/98, uses directX6 or some glide3 for 3D stuff) to see if it would work. It installed, but comes up with a weird "Cannot find a game using directdraw" error. I uninstalled it and went about my way. While it would be cool to have this run, that is not my main problem. Now, I cannot run Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (also windows 95/98--runs

The fonts are all messed up unless I crank the dpi up a lot
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1520/screenshot10ul7.png It's the same on all resolutions, even on high ones, but I'm legally blind so I have to use 800x600 ~_~ Reinstalling Wine didn't help, completely removing it and reinstalling it didn't do squat, installing some msfont thing didn't do anything either. anyway, I'm a total noob at this linux thing, the only reason i

install totaly messed up
I have just moved to a new server and transfered all my files over etc and also installed wine using yum, however I had a script on my site that used wine (via exec command) that no longer worked after the transfer to the new server. I tried a few things on the server thinking it was a problem with current setup but got nowhere, I then uninstalled wine via "yum erase wine" and

Uninstall old wine version and install new version
I did a forum search and found 16 pages for uninstalling wine. Only one was semi-helpful. What I got was: > > [Bakshara at Bakshara ~]$ rmdir ~/.wine > rmdir: failed to remove `/home/Bakshara/.wine': Directory not empty > What do I need to do? I want to uninstall wine 1.1.24 and install 1.1.26. I currently only have three apps installed. So any thing I will loose will be easy

[background] I had Ubuntu 10.04 loaded from a CD. CD failed to directly install, instead required that I go into the live session from the CD and then install. Loaded eve online with all those funny command codes you never see in windows like PPA:wine-somethingorother, and put in winetricks as well. used winetricks to install core fonts and d3dx9 set to opengl orm = backbuffer and all that

Forcing DirectX 8.1?
Hi. I'm running Debian Lenny, and I'm having a problem with Wine and playing TF2. I used to be able to play TF2 under DirectX 8.1 before updating to the newest version, no problems. I didn't even have to use the option -dxlevel 81, it was already set to it when I looked under video settings in TF2. However, with Wine 0.9.59, it seems that the DirectX that comes bundled with Wine is

Adjusting size of the window that a program opens into
I was messing around with the dimensions of the window that a program opens in and now it is a mess. Everything is huge in the window and I cannot resize it or scroll around in it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the same settings keep coming back. How do I completely uninstall Wine and reinstall it so it is all back to the default settings from the original install?

Hi; I went to install some s/w and it looked like there was a problem with openssl. So I decided to uninstall it (yum remove) and reinstall it. When I went to reinstall, I discovered I couldn't use yum. Then I discovered: [root at 13gems qmail-1.03]# yum install openssl -bash: /usr/bin/yum: No such file or directory [root at 13gems qmail-1.03]# man yum Floating point exception [root at 13gems

installing crossover games broke my working Wine?
Note: This is on Slackware 13 if it makes any difference. (Note: I am quite clued up about the CLI/text/server bits of linux but once it gets to Xorg or sound I'm quite clueless) Note: this is all without installing WoW within either wine or crossover , just running it straight from disk 1. I had installed the wine that comes in slackbuilds, 1.1.24 I tried a few programs and for example
