Crysis on Wine? Works... kinda? help?
I love puppy... A LOT. It has offered me the fastest processing out of all the OS's I've tried, and it just works, with every PC!
I first started using it for my Java servers. It was phenomenal, no issues, extremely fast. Then I eventually switched my main OS to puppy.
I modded and played a game called 'Minecraft', another java based game... That was also, phenomenal. My suped

Crysis Retail w/ Wine 1.3.35
Hi all,
I am using Kubuntu 11.10 w/ KDE Desktop 4.7.3. Desktop effects are enabled (OpenGL) and fullscreen Windows are undirected. I have an Nvidia 8800 GTX w/ proprietary driver 280.13. Everything works great (sound, mouse, in-game 3D rendering, etc) except for keyboard input!!
Previously installed Crysis in a Wineprefix a few months ago (using about Wine 1.3.21 I think). I've updated Wine

Garbled/blurred fonts.
I installed office 2007 using this howto over on the ubuntu forum
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1102840
Everything went great. The programs run and seem to work fine, except that the old issue of wine not rendering fonts right occurs.
This issue is documented here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1009930
The solution is to add

Crysis first level load crash.
Hi
I more or less followed the AppDB how to (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10107&iTestingId=59999) for Crysis. Copying in the DLLs failed to solve the problem, so I rather installed directX9 from the latest winetricks as suggested in the other Crysis version

Crysis on FreeBSD
Ok, I know Crysis will run under Linux with wine but a while ago I tried to run it under OS X using wine and all I got was a white screen when I tried to launch it, why is this?
I'm thinking of making the jump to FreeBSD and since OS X and FreeBSD are similar, would I get this same problem?

downloading WINE not from a linux machine.
I'm currently using the latest stable release and that computer does not have an internet connection so I can't use the update manager/s and have to rely on a windows machine.
I know I can download wine over at http://www.winehq.org/site/download however trying to install the *.deb file coughs up a dependency issue. something about binfmt-support.
and to be clear, I am doing a bit of

Crysis 2 Demo Working
Just a small post to inform you that Crysis 2 MP demo is working with wine 1.3.14.
You can easily install it using PlayOnLinux (Standalone setup and Steam version) or manually install it with vcrun2008 and DirectX Runtime (June 2010) dependancies (only tested standalone).

[HOW-TO]Nvidia latest graphic drivers for ubuntu users
Ubuntu distro has in its repositories the 180.11 driver version for nvidia based cards, which are not the ones you get by default with the install.
Its highly recommended to upgrade to 180.11 using the following pain-free method :
Code:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180
Since feb 25th nvidia has released an updated version 180.35 [LINK]

MyScribe not working
Hello,
I am using Ubuntu v8.10, WINE v1.0.1, and MyScribe v'?'. I am trying to get MyScribe to work through WINE. The install process works. After install and start, program main window loads fine. Once I try to login it exits.
I searched Ubuntu Forms but found no solutions, although I found other people who have had problems. Apparently there is a Linux version of MyScribe, but

Ruckus on Linux
Hello Wine Users!
There's a dead thread (well, dead as far as ideas) on getting Ruckus
to run under WINE over at ubuntuforums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=438396. Basically, it
doesn't seem that anyone that's looked at the thread knows how to get
the dll's Ruckus needs into WINE. I'm happy to test as I have a
Ruckus account. I think anyone with a *.edu can sign

Running Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), but nothing happens
Hi,
I am currently running Ubuntu 8.04 with wine 1.0 (upgraded thru update manager).
I previously installed wine & winetools using instructions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=149585.
However, when I try to run IE6, this is what the terminal outputs:

Mouse cursor disappears while moving in Wine window
Hi all!
Using 64-bit Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope and Wine 1.1.23. Until a week ago, everything worked fine for me, but from that on mouse cursor started disappearing when moving in Wine window. More precisely, it turns "invisible". It still works, but I can't see the cursor. I believe no systemwide changes were made to the system (the user doesn't add apps by herself nor uses

Hello everybody,
Those who are active in #Xgl on freenode know that I've had segfaults

Today I found the time to debug Xgl and to find the bug.
My mouse was configured as evdev device in xorg.conf, and to use it, it

FAQ 17: partial answer (mac mini server version)
Hello List,
first let remind the question and the answers:
