Error installing MacPorts rb-fxruby...
Hi all,
I''m encountering an error while trying to install the MacPorts version of
fxruby on a Intel Mac running 10.4.11. It appears to be having trouble
installing and building the ''fox'' library prerequisite. It looks like it''s
having trouble generating the libraries: "-o .libs/libFOX-1.6.0.0.34.dylib"
and "-o libFOX-1.6.la". The errors

Porticus/Port Authority for MacPorts GUI front-end?
I''ve noticed that there are two different programs which can serve as
a GUI front end for MacPorts. Would like to hear who uses what, and
differences between the two programs.
Thank you.

NSD 3.2.1 in MacPorts
Hello NSD users,
I've updated the NSD port in the MacPorts tree to version 3.2.1, so that
MacPorts users on OS X can install it with a simple "port install nsd"
command. The port has two variants, viz. "stats" and "rootserver".
Note that after installing the port, one still needs to copy
PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf.sample to PORTBASE/etc/nsd/nsd.conf and

Building Wine Using Macports
I've got the source of Wine 1.2.1 (patched to my liking) and I'm trying to build it using Macports so I don't have to manually install each required package (that's how I understand it at least, I failed at doing it through 'make' in an earlier post because I was missing a bunch of packages despite having X11 and Xcode). Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this, and even

R, Macports and C++ streams
Dear all,
R on Macports relies on GCC 4.3 to build packages. I find that
packages with shared objects that use C++ streams crash R if they're
compiled using Macports' gcc43, but work fine if compiled in exactly
the same way using Apple-supplied GCC 4.2. Has anyone here had the
same issue/know what is causing this problem?
Thanks,
Ernest

Trouble with MacPorts install, .profile file not created/ need help
I have just installed MacPorts 1.7.0 for Leopard using a
downloaded .dmg file. Following the download and installation, I
looked for the .profile file to change the environment variables, but
found that no .profile file was created.
When I tried to do so, I got an error message:

building biOps on macports, and configure--vars
All,
the MacOSX binary build of the biOps package is broken on cran, so I am trying to compile from source. I am very close; the trick is apparently that this package depends on fftw3, libjpeg and libtiff. My fftw3 is in /usr/local/, but my libjpeg and libtiff are in /opt/local/ since i got them through macports. In general, I'd like to keep as many of my third-party libraries as I can in the

Installing mysql with macports
Not sure if this is off topic, but there doesn''t seem to be an obvious
place to ask this question.
I am trying to use MacPorts to install mysql. I have xcode 3.0 and

Application PhoneTools
Hi everybody,
I'm trying to get a software running which I used to use on Windows for
Fax reception/transmission. It's called PhoneTools Expert and with
wine-0.9.8 I managed to install it properly for the first time (entering
registry and serial number, etc ... all goes well). I installed it with
default settings (Windows version Win98), but when I try to run it,
it'll crash

running program with .exe that does not need being installed
Hi
I'm trying to run a program called GAUSS. Under windows, I just needed to launch the .exe even without installing it, (there is no setup.exe). That means I can just have the file containing different .exe/.dll and so on a usb key and it runs.
I tried with wine (1.1.23 with ubuntu 8.04), putting it in:
> /home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/
then cd to it and launch:
Code:

Anyone succeeded to update an Olympus LS-10?
The Olympus LS-10 is an audio recorder and you need Windows or MacOS to update it. I also have its competitor Zoom H4n, which can be updated no matter what operating system you use, very nice indeed; just copy a file to the root directory of the Zoom and then restart the Zoom while holding PLAY/PAUSE, which will cause it to update itself.
But the Olympus doesn't work this way. You must

Street Atlas 8.0 Extractor
I mentioned earlier that I had DeLorme Street Atlas 8.0 working on
wine. It comes with a separate program, the extractor. This will pull
parts of the map CD and store them locally so that the main program
does not have to refer to the CD for those parts of the map.
I had one problem which I overcame: it was looking for h:\refnc. I
have no idea why it was looking on h:, as the CD-ROM is on d: and

Wine crashes when installing a program
Hi,
Wine crashes when installing a program. I am not sure, but I think that
the error is:

Says missing DLL but I am not missing it.
I am trying to run a program that needs MFC42.DLL. I downloaded the dll from a site and put it in the system32 folder, but it still did not recognize it. I changed the permissions to be more lenient but that did not help either. So I found and used
winetricks vcrun6 mfc42
After doing this I made a terrible mistake. To make sure that it really added MFC42.dll and was not still the file I
