Multiple computers using same Wine installation?
Hey guys, I have two Linux computers. I'd like to make it so that regardless of which Linux computer I'm sitting at, I can fire up Quicken (via Wine). Specifically, I want to access the same set of Quicken data files regardless of which Linux computer I'm sitting at. (I can be self-disciplined to only have Wine running on one computer at a time.) Does Wine support this? If so, would

Having problems installing doomsday
Hello everyone, I'm quite new to Linux and I'm having a few problems installing Hearts of Iron: Doomsday. I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 and I downloaded and installed wine (version 0.9.22) from the "add/remove" application. I followed the instructions on how to install doomsday from the Wine Application DB: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=5058 The first time I tried

Building ZDoom with winelib
Hi all, I'm trying to build the Windows version of ZDoom 2.1.7 under Linux with Winelib. Of course, I know that ZDoom can be compiled natively under Linux, but I'm aiming to port Skulltag (which is based on ZDoom) to Linux and if ZDoom can't be build with Winelib, Skulltag can't be either. With little modifications I was able to compile ZDoom with winegcc, but during linking the

restricted shell
Hello, I would like to elicit a discussion about the merits of a statically linked restricted chrooting shell like scponly which incorporates the functionality of scp and sftp. The benefits is that a chrooted user directory does not have to contain the binaries or libraries for scp and sftp and an administrator does not have to play games with the home path to chroot a user. The disadvantage, of

snmp-ups shutdowns
This apparently implies that, unlike some docs say, the snmp-ups driver can send the shutdown signals (is not crippled by design)? ;) Also, are those oids apc-private or commonly used/standard among snmp upses? ices 0.3 released
Actually I think there is already allot of mainstream support for the format? In fact many large Gaming developers including EA and Sierra use the format to drive audio in their gamning - there is allot of hardware supporting the format as well and many player solutions in place that support it - However the issue of most concern to me is although for localised encoding and "Playback"

Bug#536176: xen-utils-3.4: trying xen-3.4 once breaks xen-3.2 (?)
Package: xen-utils-3.4 Version: 3.4.0-1 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software After installing xen-utils-3.4 besides my existing xen-3.2 system, I could not start xend-3.2 anymore. The message I was getting is this: "Failed to initialize dom0 state." As far as I know, xen 3.2 and 3.4 are supposed to be able to live peacefully on the same system. (The

Victoria 2 does not display text correctly
Hi, since Wine 1.3.22, text boxes in Victoria 2 display random letters rather than the actual text ie. instead of "New Game" it displays "f". This makes playing the game almost impossible since it heavily relies on text information and decisions taken, which are now incomprehensible. I was hoping that someone could help me with this if it's a common issue with other

Samba vs. Paradox
Hello list, i have problems using paradox tables (Paradox Level 5) via BDE (4.01 and 3.02) on my linux server, but their performance is very slow. At current, i'm using Samba 1.9.17p2 (and yes, i know this is not the current version, upgrad is planned). The configuration is very passive (locking for multiuser access to tables, direct write to disk). Does anybody have a suggestion on how

Novell NetWare 3.2 + Paradox => slow Samba
Hi Jim, Does the Novell NetWare 3.2 server that you are trying to replace with Samba have any NLM's loaded to implement B-Tree lookups? If so, B-Tree processing is done on the Novell server without generating a lot of network I/O. In order to get the same kind of client - server performance, you would have to run some Paradox compatible server software on the Samba box. Thanks, Gary

Paradox 9 runtime
I'm interested in moving a client-server application written partially in Paradox 9 onto an all linux platform. The server is Interbase, so that was an easy transition thanks to IBPhoenix. However, the client requires the Paradox 9 runtime which isn't available on Linux. Wine seems like a possibility, but I can't find any evidence of anyone trying it, successful or not. Has anyone out
