GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502)
I'm getting a very confusing error in a bunch of different games:

Running 3D in Virtual Desktop Mode freezes Nvidia hardware
Greetings.
This is a problem that just started 2 days ago. Neither Wine, nor any config has changed. I even played back an old system backup from when it worked to no avail.
Basically, the problem is this: When 2D apps run in Virtual Desktop Mode, they run fine. As soon as the apps switches to 3D, or is a 3D app to begin with, the following can be observed:

Can't get Splinter Cell Double Agent to run
Hey guys,
I just installed SCDA, and also installed directx9 with winetricks if it is needed for the game.
I have a laptop (ASUS F5SL AP104) with the following setup:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5750
3 GB RAM
AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 (worst VGA ever used, but don't have better though)
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, wine-1.1.15, latest ati drivers

Java-1.4.2 not installing - video issues.
I took another pass at trying to install this, and failed again with

Bad display glitches with Ultima Online
I'm having trouble getting Ultima Online to work on my system. I installed from the Age of Shadows CD and patched from there. It installed fine, patched up ok, but when it loads the actual game my display goes utterly haywire. Call of Duty 4 black screen and error
When I try to run Call of Duty 4 on Wine 1.0 rc3 compiled from source with the 3dmark and nVidia patches, I get a black screen when I try to run the game and an error just loops in the console

Civilization 4, Beyond the Sword crashes with "Out of memory

Starcraft / DirectDrawRenderer = opengl
I'm having a problem with the directdraw opengl renderer and StarCraft
on wine 0.9.49.
When I run starcraft with the opengl renderer, only 1x1 pixel is
displayed stretched to full screen size.
The other settings have no effect, (Other than RenderTargetLockMode =
readtext, if I leave this at default StarCraft crashes, but this is
known about).

USB-joystick not detected
Hi,
I am using a CH Flightstick gameport-stick converted by a gameport-usb converter
(Rockfire). This works well under OpenSUSE Linux 10.1, ie. with FlightGear.
When I try to use this joystick with Wine wine-0.9.24 it is not detected with
two running (with keyboard) sims: Fly!II and A320 Simulator.
I also set a link # ln -s /dev/input/js0 /dev/js0 as suggested in other posts.

I'm running wine 1.1.4 under ubuntu 810 and are having problems with Frontlines Full of War as well.
I've installed vcrun2005 & set it to WinXP for the exe file and that helped a little.

App asks for multiple back buffers, but
Seems wine isn't there yet. I think it only allocates one buffer, and my debug output indicates this is causing a problem. I got 15,000+ lines of output, and I am sure we don't want to put them on this database. However, here are the last few lines:
