OSX Wine and USB Drivers
I feel like a big fat noob. I know that autodetect from device isnt supported yet (says so on the selection box, under the drives tab of winecfg) but I was curious if I could get some help. I have a couple different USB devices, a Ralink based wifi adaptor and a motorola V3 phone. There are drivers for both that I have, and work nativly on windows. On native windows, autodetect devices takes

How to get Centos to recognize a Motorola RAZR V3 as a USB device?
I have a mini-USB cable, but simply connecting a Motorola RAZR to a Linux (Centos 6) PC to download stored pictures doesn't work, at least not automatically. Any idea what I need to do to get Centos to recognize that a Motorola RAZR V3 is plugged in as a USB device? (I don't have a data plan on this phone - I'm just trying to get archived pictures off of it onto the computer.)

No sound in Steam with Bose USB speakers
Hi all, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with wine 1.2.2 and have a set of Bose Companion 5 USB speakers connected to my system. The speakers work fine in Ubuntu in every way, except for wine. In WineCFG the audio is configured to use ALSA, but the "Test Sound" always fails no matter what I set it to. I've read this is a known problem, so not a big deal. However, when playing Portal or

Running Prognos 5 in WINE
Hello, I am trying to run a program named "Prognos" (Version 5) for medical purposes by a Company named "MedPrevent" (http://www.medprevent.de/produkte-prognos_de.php). As installation crashed, I installed on Windows and then copied the installed files to Linux where I wanted to run the app via wine. The startup dialogs show up but then there is an error message that the

Ubuntu 10.4, Wine 1.1.42, Native Instruments Kontakt 4, Akai MPK88 I've installed Kontakt (sampled musical instruments). Sound is working OK with the OSS driver, but the program doesn't respond to the USB keyboard. :- ( The keyboard shows up in `winecfg` under "Audio", OSS, MIDI In/Out devices. I checked the MIDI options for the Kontakt program and it DOES show the Akai

No sound in wine with Ubuntu 10.10, native sound works fine
Hello, i am a new Linux user as of last weekend. I successfully built my first computer and installed Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.2. I am using the hdmi out on my nvidia gtx 460 graphics card with on-board which works fine with standard pulseaudio for all tested native apps (system sounds, hulu on firefox, warzone 2100). I have tried every combination of winecfg audio tab settings as well as

Sound Problems
Hey guys, I am having some problems getting the sound to work with wine, and I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. This is my first time using wine, so I am still learning about it. Anyway, when I try to run my application, I get an error back: err:wave:DSDB_MapBuffer Could not map sound device for direct access (Input/output error) err:wave:DSDB_MapBuffer Please run winecfg,

Problem with WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM sound files
Hi all, I recently managed to install "multimedia German dictionary", which I get with the local newspaper , under wine and it works OK. The problem it is when I try to use the most important feature for me - the pronunciation. When I try to listen to any word , no sound is played and wine outputs the following to the console: wodOpen unimplemented format: WAVE_FORMAT_ADPCM I rewieved

USB headset mic input
Hello! Did some search about this issue of mine ,and didn't find anything that helps me solve this issue. I dont have mic input from my usb headset in wine. (I tryed 2 different headset and even analog mic in). The mic works natively with alsa, I can record sound from this mic. But I can't seem to make it work under wine. I added the headset in .alsarc file and I see the headset when I

No sound using OSS in Steam games
Whenever I change the sound driver from ALSA to OSS in winecfg all of my steam games are muted. Some of the games doesn't even start, some of them start but are totally silent with OSS. I installed a couple of non-steam games into the same wineprefix, interestingly they can use both sound systems. So this issue is applied only to steam games. If I apply the WINEDEBUG=+dsound parameter when

can't connect to an Eaton Powerware 9155 over a usb-serial adapter
hello everyone, I've been testing the NUT solution as opposed to the undocumented LanSafe application to control my Eaton UPS. I am on a Slackware 13.37 system with a 2.6.37.6 kernel. NUT version is 2.4.3 . I installed the tarball by compiling it directly on my system (as a slackbuild package). The UPS is an Eaton Powerware 9155, but I don't know how to obtain the manufacturing date. The

No sound in Wine with ALSA loopback devices
Hi, I recently set up an ALSA-to-JACK bridge (as described in http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_and_Loopback_device_as_Alsa-to-Jack_bridge) in order to route non-JACK apps into JACK. Every sounding non-JACK app (even Flash Player) work flawlessly but Wine outputs no sound (in theory, ALSA loopback devices should behave transparently to Wine). I'm using git version and every audio app I ran in

Wine + winebottler + azloader.exe + rs232 to usb, adapter
Ubuntu creates /dev/ttyUSB0 for me when I plug in the usb-to-serial-adapter. I have a symbolic-link to /dev/ttyUSB0 from 'dosdevices/com1'. What is new in 10.04 Ubuntu is that I have to sudo chmod o+r and sudo chmod o+w on /dev/ttyUSB0 every time before I start the app which uses that serial line. ttyUSB0 goes away when I unplug the serial adapter from the USB port or shut down the

No Sound in Wine - disable / remove pulseaudio
Wine requires direct access to sound device(s) to make sound. This is true for both ALSA and OSS driver back-ends. However most sound servers are not compatible with neither of these back-ends. This also true about pulse-audio - it is not fully compatible with Wine. If you using new distro (Fedora 8, Ubuntu 8.04, SuSE 11) and do not have sound you should: 1.
