Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
Hi Folks, I have been using Wine for some time now to run Team Fortress 2 (and other HL2 based games) on my Ubuntu system. I was previously running Ubuntu 7.10 with an Athlon64 3800+, a 7600GT (256MB of RAM), and 2GB of DDR2 333MHz. Recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 (i386) with an AthlonX2 64 6000+, an 8800GT (1GB of RAM) and 4GB of DDR 800MHz. I was really hoping for a nice performance bump

Guild Wars - Direct3D8 is not available without OpenGL.
Hello everyone! As one might think from my subject line this thread seems to be about the usual no-32bit-OpenGL-libraries-installed issue, that Google is full of when you are looking for a solution. My problem is a bit different: My system is 64bit, indeed, but the 32 bit graphics libraries/drivers are installed. 32bit native games like Enemy Territory run fine. GuildWars starts with the

Problems with Directx
Ever since 1.1.27, I've been having problems with what I think is directx. I updated to 1.1.29 (I skipped .28) and I still get the same errors. I've tried using winetricks to install Directx9, but it doesn't do much to alleviate the problem. I've completely deleted my .wine folder and reinstalled 1.1.29 from scratch, but I still get the problem. I have the latest nVidia drivers

dxdiag - exits without success
Hi there. I'm trying to turn on DirectX in Wine. (please read whole message, and only after that blamming me). Recently, I've used Gentoo and it's Wine. But after that, I switched to Fedora and start using Fedora's Wine. Some programs load successfully, but not DirectX. As I said before, everything was normal in Gentoo, but not in Fedora. (for both I have amd64 (x86_64) arch).

Problem playing Warcraft III (directx)
Hi. I found out about Wine 2 days ago. So, my goal is to play Warcraft III through Garena with Wine on my Mac. I installed Garena, and it works ok so far. But I cant initialize Warcraft III, I get this message: "Warcraft was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current." I already installed d3dx9 and

Explorer - DirectX and ActiveX
Hello! I'll be running a web project in a future that has a "3d city" built in. Unfortunately the makers of this 3dcity were enough braindamaged to make it as activeX component, so it only works for IE users. The first rational step was to install explorer with ies4linux script and it works briliantly (IE6)! The activeX component does install and start, however it is saying there

Wine Directx
Hi, I was starting Steam when I saw the survey of hardware. They didn't detected anything, but It said that I was using Directx 6.1 http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/2111/capturadatelanw3.png . Is this real or Steam is mistaken? Thanks, Eusebio.

Tron 2.0 & DirectX 9.0a
Tron 2.0 starts up, offers the init menu, and works fine until you try and actually start the game. At that point, it goes blank for about 5 seconds and then says "To play tron 2.0, you need DirectX 9.0a and a supported video card with hardware TnL." If you go to the 'display' menu it says that the DX9 renderer is selected, but has nothing listed for resolutions or displays. Is

directx not found
Correctly installed Marvel Ultimate Alliance, already present in appdb as gold. The installer complained that it could not install directx. As specified in appDB I added d3dx9_36.dll to system32. When I run the application it says: "DirectX9.0c is not installed on this computer. Install it and try again." I tried to play with libraries in winecfg but without luck. I'm currently using

Winetricks / DX9
Hi I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask a question about Winetricks, but I'm going to try anyway since I just can't seem to find a place dedicated to it. ./winetricks directx finishes, but gives a lot of strange feedback which I think isn't supposed to be there. I don't have any games around right now, so I can't see if the thing is working. Code: malkav at

err:module:import_dll Library d3dx9_43.dll
I am getting this error when trying to play Rift, which is odd I think because I can play WoW just fine. I installed DirectX9 and 10 via winetricks, but still I get this error. Anybody have any luck with games on Sandy Bridge?
I have been trying for the past several weeks to install my various windows games on my new Sandy Bridge desktop (Ubuntu 11.10, integrated Sandy Bridge graphics, Wine 1.3) with little to no success. While the games install just fine as the appdb says they should, I have yet to get any game to run and I have come to the conclusion that it is because of the graphics. The most progress I have made is

EPSXE under WINE.
Hello. This thread is to help anyone having problems with using EPSXE psx emulator in WINE. EPSXE can work in WINE, only if you install directx in WINE. WINE alone does not have directx installed with it but EPSXE requires directx to function. You would need to install directx using any game which has "Install DirectX" or something similar. The redist packages for directx found online

I have tried installing directx 9, but it doesn't help. What do I do now?

DirectX questions
Hello all, Many games include a DirectX bundle in their installation setup, therefore the WINE DirectX implementation becomes overriden when we test games. However, not only this prevent the testing of WINE's DirectX implementation, the bundle they install is usually outdated. I was wondering therefore if preventing the DirectX install is possible, and if yes, would it be useful for WINE
