Design questions on creating digg.com-like URLs (are they considered RESTful?)
Hi everyone, I''m working on creating a site that functions similar to
digg.com (please no "no more digg clones" remarks please! :) ). One
thing I really like about digg is there URLs are very nice to read and I
would like to emulate that without having a lot of actions spread out
all over my application.
So in my app I have three main resources:
Users, Tags, and Items

SSH problems (from the beginning)
I have 2 machines, one with CentOs4.3 (A) the other with WhiteBox 4(B).
The machine A have a new installtion, the machine B has an already exists installation.
The machine A has the installytion as is (except tah i choose an IP adress for eth0) 200.118.115.241 from the graphical interface on Hosts Label
The machine B has eth0 and eth1, it works as proxy
i can connect by ssh from A to B
i can ping

Prototype not processing javascript
I''m trying to change over from Rails 1.1.6 to 1.2.1 and have discovered
that either something is wrong with Prototype of else something has
changed that I am not aware of and cannot find documentation on. (I
just joined this group, so if this has already been cussed and
discussed here or in another list then please point me in the right
direction.)

Multiple versions of Dovecot installed
I have had to rebuild my 64-bit CentOS 5 email server and after
installing dovecot rpms (using yum) I seem to have multiple versions
installed:
dovecot-1.1.20-1_98.el5 - from ATrpms repo
dovecot-1.0.7-7.el5 - from CentOS repo
dovecot-sieve-0.1.18-6.1.el5 - from ATrpms repo
I have tried to install just the ATrpms version but when I do "yum
install dovecot" the CentOS one always gets

user trubles
I have a mail server with sendmail, last night i send a mail to an user and aparently was received(don`t back rebooted) baut today since this morning, all mails sended to tah user are rebooted and the reason in the reboot mail is "host unknown" but the other users don not have any problem with their mail accounts.
i try to delete and re-create the user, but the same situation.

Building a kernel without kabichk
I?m trying to build a 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 kernel without kabichk. I have
downloaded the sources, installed the compiler, etc and ran the following
command
rpmbuild -bb --target=`uname -m` --without kabichk --with baseonly
--without debug \
--without debuginfo kernel-2.6.spec.
I had modified the .SPEC file according to the WIKI page

drop zero slots from table?
I find myself doing

tab <- table(...)
tab <- tab[tab > 0]
tab <- sort(tab,decreasing=TRUE)

all the time.
I am wondering if the "drop 0" (and maybe even sort?) can be effected by
some magic argument to table() which I fail to discover

apply --> data.frame
Is there a way for an apply-type function to return a data frame?
the closest thing I think of is
foo <- as.data.frame(sapply(...))
names(foo) <- c(....)
is there a more "elegant" way?

"unsparse" a vector
Suppose I have a vector of strings:
c("A1B2","A3C4","B5","C6A7B8")
[1] "A1B2" "A3C4" "B5" "C6A7B8"
where each string is a sequence of <column><value> pairs
(fixed width, in this example both value and name are 1 character, in
reality the column name is 6 chars and value is 2 digits).

matrix.csr %*% matrix --> matrix
When a sparse matrix is multiplied by a regular one, the result is
usually not sparse. However, when matrix.csr is multiplied by a regular
matrix in R, a matrix.csr is produced.
Is there a way to avoid this?

entropy package: how to compute mutual information?
suppose I have two factor vectors:
x <- as.factor(c("a","b","a","c","b","c"))
y <- as.factor(c("b","a","a","c","c","b"))
I can compute their entropies:
entropy(table(x))
[1] 1.098612
using
library(entropy)
but it is not clear how to compute their mutual information

the digraph is, indeed, large (300,000 vertexes), but there are very
many very small components (which I would rather not discard).
PS. the doc for decompose.graph does not say which mode is the default.

LiblineaR: read/write model files?
How do I read/write liblinear models to files?
E.g., if I train a model using the command line interface, I might want
to load it into R to look the histogram of the weights.
Or I might want to train a model in R and then apply it using a command
line interface.
