You can't. Winelib still requires Wine to run it. It's a library not an executable. If you want to write native Linux application that can run by itself

Not so. The ELF binary must be run via wine-preloader.
In other words, it's really no more convenient than using
wine on a win32 binary.

Winelib: How can I compile a Borland C++ Builder application on Linux using winelib?
Hi!
I'm new to winelib. I'm trying to port a Borland C++ Builder 6.0
application, but I need VCL library: vcl.h.
Any ideas?? I would want to make it run natively on Linux.
The code is as follows:
//---------------------------------------------------------------------------
#include <vcl.h>
#pragma hdrstop
USEFORM("textS.cpp", TextStuff);
USEFORM("aboutS.cpp",

No they can't be run directly on Linux. All Wine's programs are winelib (notepad, wordpad, winecfg, etc). Go ahead and run then directly (without Wine).
Again I'm not talking about a binfmt magic with witch you can run even java programs "directly".

WineLib Warning?
When compiling the following line of code using WineLib 20010731
you get a warning message.
// generates a warning
CompareString(LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT, dwFlags, s1, -1, s2, -1);
These warning relates to the defines found in
include/winbase.h file where we have:
UINT WINAPI CompareStringA(DWORD,DWORD,LPCSTR,DWORD,LPCSTR,DWORD);

speex headers and borland c++ builder (bcb)
hello,
I try to include the speex header to a bcb project. Speex headers are the
latest
one. My first problem was to use the lib file with bcb. I solved this issue
by
restructing the lib file. The second problem is to access the constant
called
"extern const SpeexMode speex_nb_mode;" through borland's c++ builder.
I could analyze the export table of the libspeex.dll. Unfortunately I

winelib: porting Delphi apps
Just a (probably crazy) thought: What about porting Windoze apps that
aren't written in C? I've got a Delphi application that currently runs
under Virtual PC under OS 9.2 on an eMac (PPC Processor), which would
run much faster without those OS layers in between. I don't really have
a clue as to whether this really far-out-whacky or not cuz I am not
really a Delphi, or, for that matter,

Porting with Winelib
Hi,
I am looking into good way to port Windows applications
to Linux and hopefully any other Unixes.
I'd like to know about questions below.
If anyone answer them, I'd appreciate it.
1. Can I use Winelib to port commercial application
whose sources will be not disclosed ?
2. Is it possible to link Winelib statically with an application and distribute it ?
3. In case that I

Porting a Win32 application using Winelib...
Hello,
I'm currently trying to use Winelib to port a fairly big
windows application to Linux. The application consists of
quite a lot of DLLs, some of which don't depend on the
Win32 API (they can be compiled with gcc).
I think I read all available documentation, but I still
have a few questions:
- is it possible to link a linux binary with "linux"
shared libs and

winelib with a dll
Sorry to bug you all, but I want to know if I am trying to do something
impossible.
I am trying to use winelib to compile an exe that links to a dll, without
compiling the dll under winelib (i.e. the equivalent of simply linking in
the .lib).
I have a win32 DLL project (hw5) that generates a hw5.lib, hw5.dll and
hw5.h under M$.
I have a win32 gui exe project (hw6) that includes hw5.h, links to

Borland C++ Builder 6.0 & Wine
Hi all,
I need to use BCB6 with Wine to develop a software that uses two ocxs
built with MS Visual C++.
I set ole32, oleaut, typelib to native for bcb, else it doesn't start
correclty. After that, BCB start up, I can design the forms, write the
code, but I have two problems that block me:
a) when I press the Execute button, the units are compiled, but the
linker hangs up with all the cpu used

winelib and no mfc
Hi,
I have assumed that if I want to use winelib for porting, I must compile MFC under Linux regardless if my app uses MFC or not. Is this true? It seems like if I have to compile MFC and yet I don't use it, I should choose another alternative to port my app since the process of getting MFC to compile is extensive.
Also, my app involves video compression for internet use. Should I expect a

questions about winelib
I need to write a win32 program. However, my workstation is a Linux box. I was goingto
create a cross compiler
and compile my code and run it on wine... However, I heard about winelib,
and allegedly I can just use winelib and compile on my linux box using
good ol' gcc and it will just work. Is this true? If so how would I set
that up? Where can I find the docs?

Compiling winelib on SPARC
Does the latest winelib compile and work on the Sparc? Are there any special
patches/instructions for this?
Are there any mirrors that have the precompiled binary winelib for Sparc?
Thanks in advance.

compiling windows C++ code base using winelib
Hi,
My application holds few windows exe's developed using .lib libraries. This application which got developed using VC++ is working fine when executed using wine.I want to compile the same source using winelibraries in linux. How can I include c++ header files? I can see only windows and msvcrt header files under wine?
Any help would be appreciated on this C++ header stuff for wine.

WineLib some questions...
Hello everyone.
I don't know if this was ever asked, if so sorry.
1.Let's assume we have a source code from some old Windos program for example: a game that useed D3D6, and was released around year 2000, we know that this program works perfectly under wine - am I correct in assuming, that - with the use of winelib - we could compile the source, and create a Linux/BSD/Solaris/whatever

little problem with winelib...
hello everybody,
i have a slight problem, i want to write a wrapper around win32 binary dll and
use it with my *nix applications, and i have been through the winelib
documentation, and spent pretty much time trying to make a working wrapper, but
i can't seem to get it working (with and without prototyping the calls i seem to
get many "undefined reference to '....'"'s)...

Questions on winelib
Hi.
I'm currently starting the process of porting a windows based gaming engine (uses the windows API),to linux.
I have winelib (winemaker?) and have read through it's documentation but am still unsure what it's really for.
Is it possable to use winelib to assist me in porting this engine from windows to linux,is that what it's for?
If so,do I have to provide all nessesary
