EZNEC
I'm again trying to run the antenna analysis program EZNEC under Wine. I
wrote about this in October. At that time I got a run-time error. This
time, the program hangs during startup. On Windows, the program first
puts up a splash screen. Under Wine, I see a small rectangular outline -
too small for the splash screen - and nothing more happens. The linux
shell window output is:

EZNEC
I'm trying to run an antenna simulation program - the demo version of
EZNEC - on Debian unstable with the winehq build of Wine. When I try to
start the program, I get the message "Run-time error '440': Automation
error". I've installed DCOM98 and vbrun60sp5 before EZNEC.
I've seen reports that others have managed to make EZNEC run under wine.
Is there something else

keylib32.dll problem
Hi all,
I'm new to wine (and pretty new to Linux), and have just built and
fiddled a bit with a Xandros distribution. This is based on Debian
woody, and comes with Crossover Office 1.3.0-2. I installed Visio 2000
which went right "out of the box" including a VB runtime update and 2
virtual reboots - awesome. Next I tried to install an antenna simulation
programme called EZNEC3

Overly aggressive constant unloading of Rails 3.0
In Rails 3.0 (both RC and edge), any constant that''s defined while loading a
file in development mode will get unloaded on each request, regardless of
whether it comes from an autoload path in the application or from external
code such as a gem.
Example file (tested on a fresh edge app):
# kittens.rb
require ''nibbler/json'' # "nibbler" is a gem specified

NHW Image codec
Hello,
Ok, and that's too many work to review a source code.In my codec, I have 3
compression schemes, I think 2 are not patented, but the third... I don't
know.For the rest, I think my codec is patent-free (I don't use
SPIHT,EZW,zerotree methods), even the wavelet transform is new and don't
use the lifting scheme nor the convolution product.
Else, if you found time to review the

NHW Image codec
Hello,
Yes, that's right.I still think that it would have more weight if I could
claim that Xiph has reviewed the source code and find that the NHW codec is
royalty/patent-free (better than me alone claiming this...).Maybe it was in
this sense that Ralph Giles answered me?
Cheers,
Raphael

cannot su, something may related to pam
Hi All
I installed samba 3.0.23d on the FreeBSD 5.4 through the port tree and
join to the Windows 2000 Domain. But I can't su anymore. And the Windows
client cannot go into the share folder.
I have pam_winbind.so at /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib.
The error message shows:
Jan 30 18:50:36 BSDSVR01 pam_winbind[26131]: request failed: No such user, PAM error was unknown user (13), NT error was

[LLVMdev] Segment Register Use
I realize I am one of the few who uses the segment registers
(especially CS and DS) on the ia32 chips for example, and a definite
few with complete segregation models that rival specialized physical
processors...
GCC still fails to use these correctly and if your LLVM still depends
on either Generic or some of the RTL models they use in various
processor definitions, I express concern for

XP Pro connecting to PDC
I have followed the FAQs and HOW-TOs, including the Sign and Seal registry patch, but I am unable to make this work.
RedHat 9.0
Samba 3.0.0rc4
XP Pro SP1
When I setup the PC and join the domain, it gives me the 'Welcome to the Domain' message, but I really don't think that this has worked because of errors in the log file, (yes I can provide, and yes I am using the smb user root).

NHW Image codec - lower quality settings
Hello,
I have improved a little the NHW codec.I have improved the dequantization
in the wavelet HH band, and little improved the -l2 (and lower) quality
setting.I have also added a -l3 lower quality setting (-15Ko, exp), I have
increased the quantization for this other setting, and I start to remove
higher wavelet coefficients, but this is not optimal... The artifacts start
to be noticeable for

dovecot can't see mail that is there
I used to install dovecot on any Fedora fresh installation and I could fetch
my internal mail
few minutes later. Now I've been struggling for two days and I haven't got
my mail working yet.
I have Fedora 14 with sendmail. Some application on the same machine send

NHW Project - high compression & community
Hello,
I've found some time to get back to the NHW Project. In fact a Xiph forum
member told me that even if I will start a new job, he hopes that I will
still continue to develop a little the NHW Project, on my spare time.I told
him that I would furthermore spend my spare time on the NHW Project if a
community around the project could emerge... and he told me that certainly

NHW Image codec
Hello,
So here is the compression scheme that I don't know if is covered by patent.
I use it on the wavelet DC parts. It outputs 1 byte (8 bits) words. There is
5 modes:
- 1(MSB) | 7 bits to store value (0->127 range)
- 01 | 6 bits to store val[n+1]-val[n] | val[n]-val[n-1] if each in the
range [-4,4]
- 001 | 5 bits to store val[n+2]-val[n+1] | val[n+1]-val[n] |
val[n]-val[n-1] if each in

slightly different audio output
Hi,
I wonder if there is specific requirement or restriction for the decoder
in order to be consider "Vorbis" compliant (or let's say, to be a
"correct" vorbis decoder). I am experimenting with integerized libvorbis
and the decoder delivers the audio data as following, (and compare with
the floating point version below).
$ tail audioout-int.txt
