Help with debugging Fable
So I'm trying to get Fable working, and after going through the various things that I had found on the 'net, it's still not working. So I am wondering what else I could do?
I installed DirectX 9, Windows Media Player, and Fable itself without much trouble. The game boots and goes through the splashscreen and opening animation, and then quits. I looked briefly through the output on the

Red Alert 2: Odd problem
Hi all,
I am currently attempting to play Red Alert 2 on my Ubuntu 11.10 installation under Wine. Now, Red Alert 2 will launch fine, as expected on a Windows machine. The most minor error is the campaign selection screen where it takes an "alt-tab" to respond. I'm not so worried about this error.
However, when I enter a single player game (Skirmish or Campaign), whenever the game

Fable breaks from wine 1.1.10 to 1.1.11
Hi,
I guess I should open a bug in bugzilla. Some questions: I installed 1.1.10 and 1.1.11 through PlayOnLinux. Does this make a difference for the bug reporting?
I have the output from the terminal (backtrace below). What could I do to provide more useful information?
I suppose the next step would be to do a bisect but I've never done it and I suspect I'll need quite a bit of time.

Fable crashes
I followed the installation instructions in AppDB but when I press New Game the game crashes. I'm using 1.1.15 in ubuntu 8.10 and it is reported that the game runs in 1.1.5. I tried in two machines both with NVidia cards (7600GT and a 9600GT).
What I get running from terminal is below. Is there anything I can try out? I've tried also the "safe mode" from Fable which switches off

ogg "chapters"?
i'm thinking about albums like "dark side of the moon" and also live bands
(especially live-pa) and DJs where there's a continuous flow from one song
to the next...
i could use a MKV file with vorbis or mp3 and include a chapter listing
[with named chapters], that would allow listening to the whole thing with
no skipping between songs. at the same time, a listener can skip

Would you mind expanding on what chapters are, and what you'd expect
to be able to do with them ?

Enhanced Podcasts with Ogg Vorbis (Chapter Marks)
Hello list!
Since it is more and more common these days to create enhanced podcasts
(= audio files with additional chapter markers [1]), I am searching for
an alternative to the currently used MP4 format.
ID3 also puplished an official standard for chapters [2], but nobody
seems to use and support it.
Now I am trying to get something similar with vorbis audio (and maybe an

R 'arima' discrepancies
Rob J Hyndman gives great explanation here
(https://robjhyndman.com/hyndsight/estimation/) for reasons why results
from R's arima may differ from other softwares.
@iacobus, to cite one, 'Major discrepancies between R and Stata for

video chapters and subtitles in ogg containers
I'm trying to create files that contain a video stream, one or more
audio streams, subtitles, and DVD-like chapter information.
ATM, I use ogm containers that can handle all this. But although ogm
is supported e.g. by xine (including chapters), it seems to be an
unofficial hack. Is that correct?
I'd like to move to ogg containers, since ogm doesn't support theora
videos. My final

Need help with dragonage
I finally moved from windows to ubuntu and so far have enjoyed it. But I have had some problems installing games such as Diablo 2, Fable, And my most recent failed attempt Dragonage. If any one has mastered the installation of this game could you please lend some help. Before any one mentions it I have tried to google it to no avail. Please and Thanks.

Relocating WINE prefix
On my system, I have the wine prefix installed in the default location (/home/username/.wine). However, I goofed when I was installing linux, and my home partition is very small compared to the root partition. I tried repartitioning it with a livecd, but it said that the volume was "locked" or something like that. Anyways, I only have about 2 gigs of space left on my home partition,

Question About Difference between SVRINFONAME and SRVINFODESCRIPTION
SRVINFONAME shows up in the title bar of a media player but does not
change automatically when it changes on the stream. If the stream is
restarted on the media player, the contents of SVRINFONAME is
refreshed. What about SRVINFODESCRIPTION? Where is it displayed in a
media player screen, and when is it refreshed in a media player if it
changes on the stream? I'm trying to solve a years-old

Semantics of chaining...
Just been thinking about this lately... but what exactly is a chain meant to
represent ?
I can see two alternatives... it's merely an "invisible" join... as is used
by say vcut. In other words 2x 1 minute chains should be treated as 1x 2
minutes. Or it is a chapter, say putting a whole album in one file, where
each chain is one song, but they are intended to be played chainwise

Comment Header - Chapters
Basically I'm looking for DVD like chapters to point to locations
within the file. I'd prefer this over having multiple ogg files.
Useful for long files, eg from live recordings, interviews, stories,
plays and so on. I was thinking something along the lines of;
comment[x]="CHAPTER=00:12:13 Third chapter"
comment[x+1]="CHAPTER=00:13:56 Fourth chapter"
Anyone else?
