"running wineinstall as root" error - Mac OS X
I run Mac OS X 10.6.5. There are a bunch of Windows programs I would very much like to run, and my latest OS update broke my copy of CrossOver Games, so I decided to get Wine. None of the ten binary download packages on the download page said Mac anywhere on them, so I decided I would have to download the source code and run from the command line. I don't like this, since I'm not

The source file wineinstall needs translation
Hello, I have compiled the source of wine for the first time but I had not installed any package as flex and I get an error message. This error only showed that you must install the package, but in English and would rather useful for people who compiles for the first time, appeared in their language. You simply could detect the language before starting to compile a file and include constant

can't find tools/wineinstall
Howdy. I have SuSE 7.2 and installed wine via YaST (wine rpm). I do not have windows on my computer at all. The docs tell me to run tools.wineinstall, but I do not seem to have that on my system. I'm stuck. I've created C:\windows, C:\windows\system, etc. and I can run the command wine --version, but that's it. Ideas? Thanks :)

./tools/wineinstall
Regarding the most recent release wine20040615. When using ./tools/wineinstall I got an error stating that a 'static' version of glibc was required. I'm using Mandrake 10 Official and would have thought that such a monster was included considering the last stable release appears to be from last year. So, what is a 'static' version and what do I need to do to overcome this

Where to place Wine CVS so that all users can use tools/wineinstall?
Or is that a stupid question? I want to have one copy of the code CVS on the system, but I want multiple accounts to be able to run the tools/wineinstall app to get the account set up locally. (Mine for testing game setup and my son's for actually playing the games.) Is this wrong? Maybe there's some other tools/wine-app-name-here that will create a .wine directory structure correctly

Probs with wine/DirectX
So I got wine working.... sort of. I was never able to run 'wineinstall' b/c if i try to run it under my ordinary login, it halts at 'config' and says I don't have permission, but if I log in as root, I can change directories to the /usr/src/wine/tools and I can see 'wineinstall' and 'config' as executable files (I even chmod a+x them to be sure) but when at:

smbmount Permission Denied

When I mount the share with smbmount using the exact same credentials, I mysteriously can't write to it. I get "Permission Denied". Can someone please clue me in to what could be

Permission denied creating Clearcase view on Samba share.
If I try to create a clearcase view on a Windows 2000 Server share then it creates a subdirectory tree. If I try it on a Samba share, it creates the first directory correctly with the right user mapping and permissions and then returns permission denied. I am able to manually create files and directories on the samba share using explorer, so I guess that clearcase must be using some different SMB
