download problem: Windows binaries - patched/devel versions
Lately, I get a "page cannot be found" error (IE 6.0, Windows XP) when I try to download the following: http://cran.us.r-project.org/R-2.2.0pat-win32.exe http://cran.us.r-project.org/R-2.3.0dev-win32.exe (Same for all other mirrors (about 6) that I've tried. Could someone please check if these files are accessible to them? I'm guessing there's something haywire in my setup.

flac-dev Digest, Vol 100, Issue 52
I'll try it, thanks. also do you know how to cross compile with MinGW? I'm trying on my Mac, because Visual Studio 2012 doesn't like the SLN, but it's not really working. :/ On Sun, Mar 24, 2013 at 3:00 PM, <flac-dev-request at xiph.org> wrote: > Send flac-dev mailing list submissions to > flac-dev at xiph.org > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the

slow tint when tinting the whole screen
Hi, I'm running ubuntu edgy with compiz, switched from gentoo to ubuntu for faster updates (emerge is way slow with source builds..). So far, I like it. but that is not the issue I'm addressing now. I've noted that with both these machines, when I'm doing something that tints the whole screen to gray (like trying to logout, or using some software that prompts for sudo

Call does not terminate correctly
We are using an MGCP configuration. There seems to be some incompatibilities between our Netergy T2 VOIP chip and Asterisk. This is how our Vendor sees it: Here's what I see. 1. The first call is initiated. (CRCX) The interesting thing here is that the CA (Call Agent) tells us to go directly into sendrecv mode which means that we start streaming audio immediately. All other CAs that

Using Compiz in KDE
I have had a rather hard time enabling Compiz on my Dell laptop, as it has an ATI X1400 video card. I found a tutorial which helped me configure Compiz in Gnome, but I'm not about to switch to Gnome. I hope that someone here can help me translate the scripts used in the tutorial to start KDE instead of Gnome. I myself have been unable to do so, after a good day googling the subject. These are

No 3D in KDE, other effects work
In Ubuntu 7.10 with KDE, I have compiz running under XGL. Although Beryl ran fine in Ubuntu 7.04, Compiz will not enable 3D effects such as wobbly windows. Other effects, such as minimize/restore animations, work properly. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 6400 / E1505 laptop, 2Ghz Intel DuoCore2, 2GB RAM, ATI X1400, 1680x1050 widescreen. What should I begin to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance.

[patch] libc Berkeley DB information leak
Hi, FreeBSD libc Berkeley DB can leak sensitive information to database files. The problem is that it writes uninitialized memory obtained from malloc(3) to database files. You can use this simple test program to reproduce the behavior: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jh3/dbtest.c Run the program and see the resulting test.db file which will contain a sequence of 0xa5 bytes directly from malloc(3).

My Back-UPS RS 1000 went haywire, any ideas?
Hi, I am sorry for possible offtopic as this question is not quite NUT-related but I cannot imagine any other place with people of such deep and intimate knowledge of UPS behavior. One day all of a sudden my APC Back-UPS RS 1000 refused to go online (green led) even though mains was connected. I used upsc to see what is going on, and ups.status was "OB DISCHRG", battery.charge was

systemctl poweroff
Hi, I've been using CentOS since versions 4.x, and I see a weird trend in recent Linux distributions. Under CentOS 4.x, 5.x and 6.x, shutting down a server (workstation, laptop) simply meant issuing 'shutdown -h now' (or choosing 'Shutdown' from the GUI menu), and the machine would simply shut down. Whatever crazy process went haywire, shutting down the system meant exactly

No shutdown option in KDE with Compiz-Fusion
I have installed Compiz-Fusion on several Ubuntu machines, all different hardware, with KDE. In all of them, the option to shutdown or reset the computer is absent from the KDE logout buttons when running Compiz-Fusion. I have searched google and see that others have this problem, but I do not see a solution. Is there a known solution to this condition? Thanks in advance. Dotan Cohen

More Speex (pre-processing) Options
I don't think the echo canceller works yet. The best I could get it to do is trash my audio. If it does work, some sample code demonstrating its use would be really appreciated... Here is what Jean-Marc has said about it in the past: > What should I use for a filter length for speex_echo_state_init()? "Well, it depends on your problem. The filter length represents the maximum

Asterisk 1.0.5-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC5 crashes with Ouch ... error while writing audio data: : Broken pipe
I have Asterisk 1.0.5-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC5 up and running. Everything seems to be running fine but after some time asterisk just goes crazy (even withouth any incoming or outgoing call activity perviously). If I leave the box up for some time * goes haywire and the console is flooded with this message: Ouch ... error while writing audio data: : Broken pipe At that time I can see that there
