The Spore Game ALMOST work...
Alright.. so.. it seems the newly released game, spore, almost works with wine.. with a few exceptions.. there is some graphical errors that apparently seems to be able to be fixed. I found a place on the internet where a guy have posted a blog entry on how to make it working... except.. I cant seem to figure out how to follow that guide. See it here: http://ericbetts.org/node/91 Can anyone

Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Hi, While running Spore (steam version) on 1.1.42 with a GeForce 8600GT on Arch Linux x86-64, everything worked fine except for occasional DxDllReg.exe crashes. I have since replaced the card with an ATi Radeon HD4800 and the user interface now unbearably flickers, garbles (inflated bits of text and other UI elements appearing randomly) and generally looks far from correct (to the point where I

Spore stopped working
Hi. I'm using Fedora 9 (x86_64) and Wine 1.1.5. I updated my kernel today (my kernel version is 2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64), and since then Spore stopped working (crashing at startup). I found a log file in Spore's folder, and uploaded it to my server. A link: http://www.doom.co.il/Exception-Report-localhost-10-02-08-16.38.32-exception.txt When I'm trying to run Spore form the terminal

Spore
I'm a first-time Linux and Wine user, and I don't understand how to run Wine yet. I have Mint Elyssa, and I am trying to install Spore. When I try to run autorun.exe, this message appears: Error starting autorun program: Permission Denied I got this same message before and after installing Wine. Does this have anything to do with Securom, or am I just not understanding Wine?

Spore no-go
What on earth has happened to spore. It used to work fine with wine 1.1.12, no real problems. Picked it up today to have a game and nothing, it tries to load and don't even get to the front screen. I have wine 1.1.16 and have downgraded to 1.1.13 with no joy. I have Nvidia graphics driver 177, downgraded to 173 and no joy. That is a shame, I did enjoy that game and now it's not working.

Re: Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Sorry to necro, but I've switched to Gentoo and the same (or a similar) thing happens on wine 1.2, upon trying to launch from Steam: err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr (nil) Also not sure what to attach as far as log files etc. as I know this line alone is pretty much worthless for anyone trying to help. I might try filing a regression later.

Spore Galactic Adventures
I am trying to get Spore to work under WINE. I have installed the game plus the Galactic Adventures expansion without any problems, but when I try to run it I get a black screen and an error box stating "The program SporeApp.exe has encountered a serious problem and need to exit" Below is the output from the terminal. Any ideas on what might be causing this. I have update the graphics

Lego Star Wars and Spore are running slow suddenly.
I upgraded to Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, and Wine 1.1.8 some time last week, and then reinstalled Spore to give it some play. It worked fine for a couple of days, but now I'm in the space stage and the game is incredibly sluggish. This wasn't happening beforehand, it was running fast and marvellously smooth until I tried to stop a war on my home planet. This appears to be a recurring theme,

Spore Won't start
I'm running linux mint 9 and the latest version of wine. Whenever I try to run spore, it says "Starting Spore tm" and then after a minute it goes away and nothing happens. I'm new to linux and I don't know how to program things like in the terminal

New winetricks 20110417: new verbs braid braid_demo cod5_waw deadspace dotnet20sp2 dragonage_ue mise popfs splitsecond splitsecond_demo spore
Another fortnight, another Winetricks. This release fixes a handful of bugs, and adds a handful of games (or, really, ports them from wisotool). It also brings back the old verb dotnet20sp2, since that seems to work with wine-1.3.18 (please let me know if it's useful). It also adds a rudimentary gui to prompt for Steam username and password, cleans up the --help message, and improves mac and

[LLVMdev] Depth First Sort of Machine Basic Blocks just before emitting code
That looks like it does a preorder depth first traversal (I think). I'm looking for postorder. Is there a trivial transform between the two? (I don't know one.) Am I wrong about the preorder/postorder? If not, anything lurking for postorder traversal? acts_as_tree with Modified Preorder Traversal?
Has anyone extended Rails''s acts_as_tree to use the Modified Preorder Traversal algorithm? This is a really clever trick for optimizing access to trees stored in databases, as described lucidly in this article: http://www.sitepoint.com/article/hierarchical-data-database/2 It adds two integer fields, a "left counter" and "right counter", to each row. error using method ls.ranking.capa.ident
I'm trying to run the generalized least square approach for my 2-additive problem, unfortunately this error appeared. I have tried to figure out the error from the mailing list but couldn't find the solution. Any help is highly appreciated. This is my source code: >a1 <- c(76.18, 61.84, 60.4, 69.09) > a2 <- c(51.01, 50.39, 87.62, 52.03) > a3 <- c(80.08, 48.49, 90.86,

change graphic card ID
hi guys :) I would like to play SPORE with wine. I have read a lot of commands that this should be possible with the current wine build (witch special patch). My problem is, that SPORE doesn't like my graphiccard. So it alerts that my GC isn't supported by the game. Is it possible to change the graphiccard ID string, that wine will given to the game? greets from germany Hauke

Question about running SecuROM under WINE
I am new to WINE, and Unix-based systems in General. I have up until recently been using Windows XP Home, but after installing Spore, SecuROM was also installed onto Ring 0 of the Kernel and has pretty much fried my computer. Apparently, because of where it installed itself, it interfered with other programs and now I can't get anything to work right. So I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 for 64-bit
